Re: tinySA with a larger screen

Ok , I thought 7 "was the size of the diagonal of the window? (screen) .
The confusion arises from the lack of the capital letter to describe the system name,?
indeed with Windows (with a capital letter) the confusion would have been avoided? (for me).

It would have been nice to have one version on Android.

Thanks.

Patrice.

Thanks for the quick response and your efforts on this cool project. ?PE4312?looks to be a drop in replacement I will swap it out and report the results. ? ?

Re: What to do when a selftest fails

Well I returned my clone unit to the Ebay seller ideafoxtrot. Got fully reimbursed and ordered another unit from R&L Electronics (verified supplier) and received the unit yesterday. Performed the self test and passed all sequences 100% and with flying colors! R&L was very professional and I will use them in the future for other items.

Yes. Replacing the PE4302 should solve it

It past all test with previous version of FW. ?Don't think I have any source over 10dBm that is the limit correct? ? ESD? ? would replacing the attenuator chip solve the issue? ?would the?PE4312C device be a?suitable upgrade ?

Thanks?

If it previously passed all tests with v1.1-77 FW it suggests you have destroyed the attenuator?????

Had been passing all tests now fails attenuator, this is confirmation of an error in the attenuator chip correct? ?I have contacted R&L not sure the return period. ?If I am out of luck could I just replace the attenuator chip? I have the capability. ? ?

Re: Pulse on sweep start #feature_request

Actually I forgot about maximum calibration out power level, that is true.
Nice hint about MCU pins, thanks!

Re: What to do when a selftest fails

Can I ask all other buyers from AliExpress that got a clone to start a dispute if they did not yet?
If you did not yet received formal confirmation from me, send me a private message with a photo of the back of the tinySA you bought and I will reply.
This will help us to protect the trademark.

Re: Pulse on sweep start #feature_request

The SW is open source. See github
The pulse out at the high connector will be at most -25dBm so yes, it can be implemented, but will be difficult to use.
Better use the two unused MCU pins (A9 and A10) connected to holes for pin headers at the edge of the PCB (P3)
I noticed I forgot to blink the blue led in between output sweeps.

As good as new!

I was sure I tried that, but I must have been tired or something.

Thanks again for a great product and great support...

Pulse on sweep start #feature_request

Hi,
is it possible?
For instance if we do frequency sweep in Low Out mode it could be handy to have a pulse out of High channel at the beginning of each cycle.

Hi,

I feel badly for people who were ripped off by the sale of fakes. It makes me afraid to buy anything from the 'offshore' sellers. At the same time I feel very lucky. I ordered my first SA through Amazon. I paid more for it and it was actually sent from an offshore seller. It was the real deal. While waiting for the slow boat a list member offered one for sale here. I got it. It too is the real deal. I had the same experience at Amazon with the nanoVNA (related) and got a real H4.

More recently I did get bitten when i bought a "SDRPlay RSP1A" that turns out to be clone knockoff. So far it doesn't play at all. I have started the process with Banggood. More days/weeks of waiting for results from that. I feel your pain!

Looks like I've bought a clone too unfortunately. I didn't know clones were even a thing until it was already here. The wiki and this discussion group thing need a much better design with more obvious in-your-face presence and cohesion to help direct us users to the right info fast. Took me 5 minutes from signing into groups.io to finding the join button, and "where to buy" and info about fakes should be glaring back at me as soon as I go to the website homepage, not hidden behind a small plain text link in the top left.

Anyway, mine is having the same symptoms as Robert Entwistle. Works fine on the software that comes with it, but try to upgrade and tests 5 and 7 fail, roll back the firmware and they pass again. The packaging looks completely genuine, the circuit board is blue and the performance seems a lot better than most of these clones. TinySA seems like a great product but if you're going to have something manufactured in China and sold through Alibaba / Aliexpress, the market is bound to get flooded with clones when it gets popular. I bought it from an AliExpress store called "Convenient Tool Store". There is an absolute dead giveaway that these are fake in Robert's photos and mine is the same, but I won't say what it is for Erik's sake.

Re: What to do when a selftest fails

Aliexpress confirmed counterfeit, refunded purchase (without return), and took down the sellers listing.? Looks like they shut down the seller altogether, no items listed in their store.? Thanks Erik!

Hi Clyde,

Do you have a link for the metal NanoVNA-H case?? Also, where is this "mod section" you mention?? Not on this forum that I could find.

Wondering if the metal case really helps anything in that the tinySA has a number of shields over most of the PCB components.
