Re: tinySA use like a spectrum scope ?

It IS a spectrum scope. There is a setting to be able to show the scan as a waterfall as well as a spectrum monitor.

Re: SD card save - fail write

I think we have all experienced SD card problems over the years.

Sometimes I find reformatting or recovery tools work, but it's still a bit
hit and miss if they work.

However I have been discovering that the best way to sort out a corrupt
SD CARD is actually your cell phone ;-)

I'm no expert but I'm convinced that the reformatters in my Android phones
appear to be able to write to certain hidden memory areas or reset hidden
flags somehow.

I guess there might be some collusion between phone makers and sd card
manufacturers for this stuff, since the industry relies heavily on the two
working together, and that if there were too many failures then it would
soon get a bad reputation / bad for business. Well that's my theory.

When all my other utils fail, I end up shoving the bad sd cards in my phone
and reformat them in the phone.

So far it's been quite revealing how much more reliable this method has been.

YMMV.

Re: SD card save - fail write

I believe my SD card to be good, works fine on my desktop. I have tried multiple cards and formats.

The tinySA recognizes the input ( I get the card icon at least ). If I try to load settings I get ERROR no card, if I try to save settings its SD CARD SAVE Fail write.?

I have tried to roll back the firmware to what i believe it was shipped with but no joy so far.

May have to put this one down to heavy handed soldering on my part, Its still completely usable and i do have the 4 presets to use.

Re: SD card save - fail write

Given the number of SD card fail reports over the last year versus the sales quantities it seems to be an acceptable low failure rate,

Re: SD card save - fail write

I also had a a SD card fail recently, within a week of getting my new Ultra (Genuine original). ?Replaced with a reputable Kingston brand 32GB one. No problem since.
OK so it¡¯s only 2 reports, but I wonder if perhaps the included completely unbranded card is of questionable quality/reliability?

It¡¯s no big deal anyway as even good branded ones are dirt cheap. Peter.?

Re: SD card save - fail write

The SD card has no relation to the battery. It should best not be inserted or removed with power on but battery present or not does not make a difference.
Formatting the supplied SD card as FAT32 may help

SD card save - fail write

Is there a fix for this?

My aux broke off, when i re-soldered I removed the battery then SD card but forgot to put the SD card back in before reconnecting battery. After this i was stuck with a frozen screen and no menu. I updated to the latest firmware and all is working apart from the SD card save.?

I have tried the clear config and other SD cards but no joy.?

Re: Wireless Microphone Analyzer

Thanks for this. I used to work on some of these wireless devices (Telex) at the factory. This looks like a very useful program.

Nice job with the fix. It's an amazing instrument is it not? If you drop it while working from a tower or blow it up you aren't out kilobucks either! Enjoy the new toy!

It appears that in additional to preventing any previous version Preset files from being loaded, the new FW release also prevents any previous version Configuration files, and possibly Command files, from being loaded.? Something to be aware of before updating.

Re: New user #ultra, Problem with the Signal Generator

Hello. Finally a few days ago I was able to fix my TinySA Ultra4.
Replaced were :?
U5 - After amateur soldering out it was not suitable for re-soldering.
U29 - It got broken for a unknown reason, it was originally functional. Maybe ESD after soldering out U5.
I ordered U5 and U29 from LCSC (AW13412DNR).?
U6 SI4468, from Farnell. This SI4468?was the cause of the malfunction, it was generating about 50dB too weak a signal in Generator mode.
?
The device seems to be working properly. It passed the Self Test until I upgraded it to tinySA4_v1.4-141-gf753dbf at which it fails test #6: Above Critical. Up to version tinySA4_v1.4-140-g294ba13 it passes Self Test correctly. I don't know if this is a bug in the firmware 1.4-141?or if it's a problem with the replaced components.

Pass on tinySA4_v1.4-140

Fail on: tinySA4_v1.4-141
