Re: question about cable shipped with TinySA Ultra

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hello,

this cables aren't compareable at all.

The RG316 is a cable for flexible use. The SS405 is a cable to have a more flexible alternative to the corresponding semirigid cables.

The SS405 will last longer then a semirigid if moved, but much less then a RG316.

The SS405 can last long if the bending diameter is limited by a tube with limited bending capabilities and the SS405 can move freely inside this protection tube.

You can use a spiral coiled tube, like the one made for showers. This protects the cable.

The RG316 in contrast is a very simple cable that is easy to handle with limited capabilities.

Please be aware that the linked datasheet for the Suhner cable shows a very interesting thing, the inner conductor is a mix out of steel and copper wire. This shows that this cable is made for robustness.

The RG400 is a different thing, it is more of the RG223/RG58 size.

All the Best,

Isidro

What error in the output levels versus frequency did you observe?

Re: question about cable shipped with TinySA Ultra

I see; even the double shielded RG316 specified only till 3GHz...

- this cable
almost the same structure and specified till 6Ghz...

The RG400 has also multiple inner conductor... and spec till 12,4Ghz (comparable spec and dimension to RG223)

here just only till 6Ghz, why?;

I wonder what kind of blue cable it is, that comes with the v2 NanoVNA's.? - I measure 0.5dB lower loss on it (30cm 4,4GHz), like the tinySA black cable...

Hello Erik,

A wish for a tinySA3 - will it be possible to separate the correction tables for the reception and generation modes?
For example, add a table "correction low_out", and align the output to it?

With best regards,

But I work off the Smith Chart.? If it doesn't give me a Simth Chart, I'm not interested......???.

Not quite true.? Your statement is correct.? Doing filters. active gain blocks or attenuators, the scalar network analyzer is all one needs.

Usually the input and output impedance is important for s filter. That can impact the filter performance. ?I am not aware of a way to get that information without the VNS capabilities.?

Erik, Thank you for putting me out of my misery, over what 'painted' over letters/numbers in black nano you were using while viewing your video related to the PFA demonstration. Geo

Relative to Erik's tinyFPA, doe the nanoVNA H4 version mater?

I have read the thread: Where to buy a NanoVNA H4 HW rev 4.3?

?

These were the last two entries in the tread:

?

Fred, W9KEY

06.10.2022 ? #29768??

?

Unsure if this thread is still open.... ?

But here we are, 10 months later, and I think the same exact questions still remain.? To be specific:

?

1)? For NanoVNA-H4, which hardware version is the best - having proper MCU and included SD Card Slot?

?? - It appears version 4.2 is older and still sold by many authorized sellers, but is newer version 4.3 the better one to buy?

?? - After all this time, why are there still so many 4.2 versions for sale?? Is it because no one wants the older 4.2 version??

?

2)? Will the latest Firmware revision run correctly with same features on both hardware version 4.2 and 4.3? ? I think DisLord firmware? V1.2.00 is the latest - correct??

?

3)? Who is the best / trusted seller to purchase a proper functioning NanoVNA-H4, with all latest features / firmware?

?

4)? Or is it better to buy a NanoVNA-F version 3.1 from www.deepelec.com by BH5HNU? ?

?? - That design seems to be well defined/stable and more clearly marketed. ?

?? - But maybe it is not equal in features to the latest -H4?? This is all very confusing!!!

Hi i have a H4 V4.3MS , had it just over a month and very happy with it so far.

Im not new to VNA's as have used professional HP/Agilent ones for years.

?

I purchased mine from a seller in the UK direct, ie not via ebay.

?

My version has a ARM 7E-M CORTEX M4F , PLATFORM STM32F383Xc and the clone synth chIp MS5351 hence the MS Suffix in the model number.

?

It has been stable for me and i double checked a measurement on a 10MHZ BPF against an agilent analyser i have access to at work. The results were pretty much spot one. I should add i do have a HP calibration kit (SMA) and i havnt even used the supplied cal SOLT's.

?

I just wish i could get J.Smiths labview software to run with it.

?

Hope this helps Pete

So what???? Why is this posted in tinySA on groups.io?

?

Erik has said relative to the tinyFPA that you need a nanoVNA H4 .? I want to get a larger screened nanoVNA. ?

?

My question is: is the nanoVNA H4 I were to buy today (21 Jan 23) OK relative to the tinyFPA firmware by Erik?? Simply, do I care what version I were to buy?? The question is best answered by Erik but I thought I¡¯d ask here lest someone other than I is confused as well.

To those who know and reply, Thank you! ? ? ? ? ? larry

Perhaps I'm wrong but, I mount the the antenna on the coax (or longer if needed) Erik provided.? I've not done it yet but, a wooden support would work as far to holding the antenna.

Re: Stereo Separation Alignment FM Radio - Is this possible with TinySA?

Way back in my college days I had a pirate FM radio station (made from a Radio Shack FM transmitter kit) and I didn't know how to build a stereo multiplexer circuit.? But I did know that if I injected a 19KHz audio signal on the carrier it would make the red "STEREO" indicator light come on in a FM receiver.? Not sure if the students in the dorms listening to my station caught on to the fact that none of the stereo songs I broadcasted were really just in mono!

Re: Stereo Separation Alignment FM Radio - Is this possible with TinySA?

I believe that there are apps for audio spectrum analysis for the PC (I know that there are some for Android) that would have the resolution required to do what you want.

Re: Stereo Separation Alignment FM Radio - Is this possible with TinySA?

There are quite a number of audio SAs online as freeware.? Pick the one that best suits your needs.

The TinySA Ultra specification for minimum RBW is 200 Hz.? This should be more than adequate to view the stereo sidebands off the air.

A NanoVNA might be used for an analog discriminator, but not likely for a PLL type.
