Re: question about cable shipped with TinySA Ultra
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe SMA ?cables with the TinySA are approx. 20cm long, and with the ultra approx. 30cm ? The diameter of the cable is the same, but the cables with the Ultra seem to have a better physical connection to the sma connector, slightly larger diameter joint at the sma connector and a longer, more rigid sleeve ? To the best of my knowledge both ?my TinySA and Ultra are ¡®originals¡¯ ? Regards ? Mike G8EII ? ? ? |

The tracking generator will give you only a scalar network analyzer - no complex measurements and no Smith Charts, no complex reflection coefficient and...... Question for those who own both a TinySA and the Ultra version: Are the cables physically different between the two models?? Are the Ultra cables any different in length or diameter compared to the original TinySA? The SA can be used to view the stereo sidebands from an FM broadcaster over the air.? How this relates to alignment of a receiver separation is beyond me. There are specialized instruments that generate the stereo signal.? I'd check ebay for something inexpensive from China. Dave - W?LEV ? Stereo Separation Alignment FM Radio - Is this possible with TinySA?
I understand that there are no plans for the signal generator in the TinySA (I have the Ultra version) to gain the functionality of modulating the carrier with an FM stereo composite signal. Is there another method for aligning a FM radio's stereo separation using the TinySA without any other specialized equipment (except perhaps a scope)? If yes, what would the steps be to do that? Thanks! Roy |

I noticed that generator and SA Ultra use same connector. There is no tracking generator then.

Removed it. 600mVpp vs 130mVpp before (10MHz@-7dB coming from tinySA).

A first test will be to remove the switch and check if the signal level at the input jumps up to the level without any load.

You are almost correct
The switch is for the LNA but the signal path is bidirectional so if the switch is bad (e.g. creates 10dB loss) you will see this loss also when doing output -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |

USB serial interface always returns live data for trace.calc=aver4 or quasi?
I'm playing around with the USB serial interface to simplify some pre-compliance tests. However, I can only get the live data out of the TinySA when the trace CALC is set to aver4 or quasi. The following commands in this order return all the same live values but none the aver4 or quasi:
- "scan 1000000 350000000 290 3" (second column)
- "data 0"
- "data 1"
- "data 2"
?
I would expect to see the following values (all with level correction):
- "data 0": "live or last? trace" when you do any of the CALC actions. If no calculation is active "data 0" returns all zero's
- "data 1": stored trace of the currently active trace
- "data 2": calculated values like average4 or quasi-peak. If no CALC was set, this would be the raw=unprocessed values.
Is that correct?

Just some more questions/remarks:
2) command "scan 1000000 2000000 290 3" returns '1000000?8.633344e+01 0.000000000 ' per line. The first value is the frequency, the second the "measured value" but what's the third column?
3) when setting trace.calc=aver4/quasi and then?immediately?scan, are the values already averaged? do the commands block until the scan completes?
4) scan always returns values with level correction, right?
5) "clearconfig 1234" also erases level correction?
6) Is there a command to reset to factory defaults (but keeping level correction) so when setting up a new measurement, I can start from a known configuration? or is it only possible with a manually setup preset?
7) trace with dBuV returns b'1: dB\x1dV 100.000000000 10.000000000 \r\n' \x1d is neither "u" nor "¦Ì"?
