Just a question about behavior (tinySA)

After a FW update:

Up to FW version tinySA_v1.3-429-gc224fa9 2022-07-05, after entering the leveloffset values by console, the upper and lower display scale level indicators and the LOW mode indicator, which were red, automatically turned to white/green, as well as doing CONFIG/LEVEL CAL/CALIBRATE.

In the FW versions after this one, after updating the FW, after entering all the leveloffset values by console (previously saved), those indicators remain red even doing saveconfig and reset afterwards. The only way to change them to white/green is to go through CONFIG/LEVEL CAL/CALIBRATE menus.

Is this the expected behavior since the CALIBRATE routine is more complex and complete?

Re: My tinySA Ultra Signal level Critical #ultra

Hello Sarayut Hatsanai!

Why 4321?

Via console of tinySA APP "clearconfig 1234" or does tinySA4 Ultra work differently?

if you don?t have a demod probe the oscilloscope will look like this

As the resolution is a bit poor the TinSA settings are:

TinySA setting:

Frequency: 10,7 MHz

Span: 1 MHz

Sweep time: 50 msec

Sweep points: 145

Hi all

I?m using my TinySA to perform alingment on AM and FM radios. This works very good with the TinySA and an oscilloscope. Hopefully the following pictures are usefull for some of you. If you don?t have a demod-probe the picture on the oscilloscope looks a bit different¡but it works also. Due tot he settings the 10,7MHz is in the middle oft he screen.

I assume you did check the coax cable.
If all else fail contact your supplier

Sorry, it's an ultra. I was confused.
Can you do a CONFIG/CLEAR CONFIG

One remark to all FW hackers,

If you want to avoid repeatedly opening the case to restore after a failed FW update, you can make a small HW modification:
Solder a wire from BOOT0 to the middle pin of the jog switch. Then you can activate the DFU mode simply by pressing the jog switch when switching on.
I learned that there is already a SW modification in the latest FW that enables similar behaviour, but this only works with a correctly loaded FW, while my HW modification always works (I did this modification for both my tinySA and my NanoVNA).

Just my 2 ?

Hi Antoine,

Did you try with a different USB cable or with a different USB port of your computer?

I try re calibration but still have a problem, I generate from know signal and correct it work fine only low frequency but at high frequency above 100Mhz level not correct.? ?

Re: firmware update failed now I'm stuck

Thank you Erik, following your recommendations I was able to use again the ST32CubeProgrammer.
I downloaded again FW 1.43 in case it was corrupt and also an older one 1.40.
Both gave an error even not at the same place, but I cant upgrade with a FW.
I join a snapshot as the page where I download the FW as the errors, I'm using a TinySA not the Ultra one.
Any idea what I can do next to put a FW in my TinySA ?

Re: Having trouble installing tinysa-saver on my M1 Mac..

Hi Larry,
The windows app is also runing whiteout problems but again you need some VM to do this.

Re: Having trouble installing tinysa-saver on my M1 Mac..

Hi Larry ,

make sure to copy / paste all in terminal including the point at the end.

?python3 -m pip install .

try again.

Re: Having trouble installing tinysa-saver on my M1 Mac..

Hi ,
?is use this , just email the creator for a code .

For this you need a virtual machine , VMware Fusion 13 works for me.

Brew is a complete disaster for ARM .Maybe there is a version on Ports .

Regards Patrick

Kind regards

Re: firmware update failed now I'm stuck

Hi Steven,
I was able to connect my TinySA but FW 1.43 gave an error when upgrade, tried to download again 1.43 in case it was corrupt and tried also 1.40 without success. I join a snapshot of the errors as the page where I download the FW, I've a TinySA, not the ultra one.

Re: firmware update failed now I'm stuck

Hi Clive,
Thank you, I followed your recommendations, and I can upload the FW again, but got the same error before the end , snapshot added.
I reloaded the FW 1.43 in case it was corrupt and a older one 1.40, both gave error even note the same.
I need to find a FW who work with my TinySA, any idea?
