Or you can make a video of the whole selftest

I need a picture of test 7
This can be created using a serial over USB command

Re: Do I have a Clone?

Eric I thought I may have a problem with attachments. So here is a cut and paste. Did I run the correct self test? Did I pass? Is this genuine?
Thank You

Re: firmware update failed now I'm stuck

In DFU mode the screen will stay white
Steps to take
Connect the switched off tinySA to a PC with the USB cable.
Make sure the PC sound is on
Connect VDD and BOOT0
Power on the tinySA
The screen will become white
You will hear the USB connect sound from the PC to inform you that the DFU mode is connected

Re: firmware update failed now I'm stuck

Hello

poweroff your TinySA, than connect Boot0 and VDD, then switch the Device on with this connection.

Now it should be in DFU mode

firmware update failed now I'm stuck

Hello I tried to update the FW of my TinySA using ST32CubeProgrammer. Upgrade to tinySA_v1.4-33-ga8bffcf failed close to the end message say something like address XXX can't be writed.
Then the tinySA shows a withe screen when powered. Reading Erik explanation in the wiki " If an upgrade failed you may have to open the tinySA case and connect two points on the PCB (BOOT0 and VDD) to be able to try to upgrade again"
I tried that without success, I cant upgrade again because the white screen dont allow me to start the DFU.
So I'm looking for a solution to resolve my problem.

Re: #feature_request #feature_request

Toni, thank you.
As I have already written above, if touch calibration was not performed accurately enough, calling from these areas may become impossible. That's what happened with me. Everything is working now, very convenient. Now I will remember for the future, to perform this calibration with something sharp and very, very carefully.
And I agree with you and join the request about the green zone.

Re: TinySA Serial Port Protocol

Hi Tom,

Thank you for your effort, I found some commands that are not yet listed in your overview.

The command list is defined in main.c
https://github.com/erikkaashoek/tinySA/blob/434126dcc6eed40e4e9ba3d7ef67e17e0370c38f/main.c#L2021-L2163

The following commands are active in the latest tinySA version v1.4-36-g434126d from today:

Normal Commands:
  • sweep_voltage - usage: sweep_voltage {value(0-3.3)}
  • zero - usage: zero {level}
  • test
  • repeat
  • status
  • line - usage: line off|{level}
  • usart
  • usart_cfg

Single Letter Commands (?)
  • y
  • i
  • v
  • a
  • b
  • t
  • e
  • s
  • m
  • p
  • w
  • o
  • d
  • f
  • u

Re: Computer Monitor

I have a tablet that runs WIN7 and I have given up on it. Yes it works, but it takes about 4 min to load the software and then its so slow I could go out and have dinner between measurements. If I ever have the money for a new tablet I will try it again but for now its on hold and I run it on my laptop if I need portability.
In my opinion, the best feature of the tinysa app is the remote desk top feature. I wish there was a way to open it full screen with the push of a button so I don't have to resize the window to full screen every time.

Don,
Eric has released several videos showing the functionality of the TinySA app. You find them on you tube or from a link at the tinysa.org homepage.

Re: #feature_request #feature_request

You can toggle the selections between Start/Stop and Center/Span by touching in the empty area. As already mentioned the hot spots are hard to find and I can rarely do it twice in a row but am thankful that Erik has promised improvement in the next firmware.

Re: #feature_request #feature_request

Erik,

After repeated very careful calibration of the touchpad with a sharp toothpick (and glasses), everything worked as it should. My carelessness with previous touch calibrations is to blame, there are no complaints against you.

Thanks,

Re: #feature_request #feature_request

Erik, Thank you!

Re: #feature_request #feature_request

On some Ultra's the bottom region for touching the frequency is too small and it won't work
Next FW update will have an enlarged area

Re: New FW release: INTERVAL trigger and 50Hz modulation

Hi Erik,

Wow, I can't believe how quickly you added the interval trigger function, and doing some quick initial tests using my TinySA (purchased from R&L Electronics) it looks like it will be more than adequate (not perfect as you noticed, but pretty darn good).? With zero span set to a frequency of 1.85 MHz I set my display time to 20 msec (actually results in 20.1msec) to look at slightly more than one complete 60 Hz sine wave cycle, and then I set the interval time to 16.7 msec to get the most stationary display of the RFI generated by my light dimmer which operates off of 60 Hz power.? I then set the interval timer to 33.6 msec to get the most stationary display, and also set it to 50.5 msec to get the most stable display.? Mathematically the intervals that should have worked well should have been 16.7 msec 33.3 msec, 50.0 msec so you can see the actual values I had to use are slightly different than the mathematically derived values but still pretty close and easy to compensate for by watching which direction the trace moves and adjusting the interval value accordingly.

I also tested the system using 50 Hz by setting my function generator to 50 Hz and generating a square wave to generate harmonics and once again listening up on 1.85 MHz in Zero Span Mode.? I selected a display time of 30 msec to capture slightly more than 1 complete cycle of a 50 Hz sinewave (actual display time was 30.2 msec), and I obtained the most stable display with the trigger interval time set to 40.4 msec while the mathematically correct value should have been 40.0 msec.?

I will do additional tests on the bench as well as out in the field looking at real powerline noise but to far it sure looks like you have added the feature I suggested and the results are more than acceptable with the understanding that slight movement of the display from right to left or left to right depending on the user entered value of interval time will happen and a completely stationary display is unlikely due to timer resolution constraints, etc).

I will provide more feedback as I do additional tests, but so far it looks very good, and certainly can't thank you enough for entertaining this added feature.

Re: #feature_request #feature_request

Toni,

Thank you for explanation, but I can't find area, where I must touch for calling the FREQ submenu or the submenus to change them.?
I mean area in the red rectangle on screenshot below. I touched it all by stylus, but this calls? previously used menu
only. FW 1-4-32 on both models. Could you point me to area for calling FREQ submenu please?

Thanks,

Re: #feature_request #feature_request

Hello Erik.

Very nice additions in every new version, thanks!

Can you please make the 'preset' > 'store'?? show the frequencies already filling the slots (and not only store1 to store4).
It helps in populating the store command with info of where you want to put new preset frequencies...
TIA?????? Joe.

Having trouble installing tinysa-saver on my M1 Mac.

I originally posted this to the wrong group: nanovna-users . ?I'm copying every thing I gotten so far.

I'm having trouble installing tinysa-saver on my M1Mac.

The 'WARNING' message is repeated 5 times.? And then:

OK - so it can't find pyserial.

?

Can you try manually installing pyserial?

?

?

?

Remote possibility, there's some weird version thing for pyserial on M1 CPUs.? I wouldn't expect it, though. MacOS pyserial should be making OS calls, and I wouldn't think those are different.
