Having trouble installing tinysa-saver on my M1 Mac..

开云体育

I'm having trouble installing tinysa-saver on my M1Mac. Further, I managed?to ask this question on nanava-users.

After doing 'brew update' & 'brew upgrade':

llaassllaass@M1max-D Downloads % python --version
Python 2.7.11
llaassllaass@M1max-D Downloads % python3 --version
Python 3.10.9

So far all went well.

llaassllaass@M1max-D ~ % git clone
Cloning into 'tinysa-saver'...
remote: Enumerating objects: 2992, done.
remote: Counting objects: 100% (14/14), done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (13/13), done.
remote: Total 2992 (delta 3), reused 9 (delta 1), pack-reused 2978
Receiving objects: 100% (2992/2992), 2.18 MiB | 2.10 MiB/s, done.
Resolving deltas: 100% (2100/2100), done.

Again, all is well.

Now the problem.

llaassllaass@M1max-D ~ % cd tinysa-saver
llaassllaass@M1max-D tinysa-saver % python3 -m pip install .
Processing /Users/llaassllaass/tinysa-saver
Preparing metadata (setup.py) ... done
WARNING: Retrying (Retry(total=4, connect=None, read=None, redirect=None, status=None)) after connection broken by 'ReadTimeoutError("HTTPSConnectionPool(host='pypi.org', port=443): Read timed out. (read timeout=15)")': /simple/pyserial/

The 'WARNING' message is repeated 5 times. And then:

ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement pyserial (from tinysasaver) (from versions: none)
ERROR: No matching distribution found for pyserial
WARNING: There was an error checking the latest version of pip.

I tried without the ending '.' :

llaassllaass@M1max-D tinysa-saver % python3 -m pip install
ERROR: You must give at least one requirement to install (see "pip help install")
WARNING: There was an error checking the latest version of pip.

So, I tried to see if 'pip' is installed:

llaassllaass@M1max-D tinysa-saver % whereis pip
pip: /usr/local/bin/pip

Any suggestions?? Thanks, larry

Perhaps it would be nicer if the empty key space were filled with solid, non-transparent empty keys.

Hi Erik,

Thank you very much!

With best regards,
Dom.

Re: #feature_request #feature_request

In the current version, touching the scale, attenuation, spur, RBW, VBW, scan time icons in the left column directly calls the corresponding submenus. It would be great if touching the frequency display area at the bottom of the screen directly called the FREQUENCY submenu. Applies to both models.

I wonder if anyone has tried to touch the area of the current date? Is there another way to get into this submenu?

Connect using serial over USB and issue the command: selftest 0 7
and post a readable photo of the resulting screen

Re: TinySA Serial Port Protocol

Slight table format improvement attached.

Re: TinySA Serial Port Protocol

Greetings,

After searching around a bit more I found the list of TinySA USB interface commands in the WiKi. As part of my learning process I decided to copy the commands info into a Libre Office word processor table. I find the table structure makes for easier reading. I have attached the file (Open Office ODT file type) which I think may be helpful for others - I wonder if it should be added to the WiKi?

I was hoping to discover a means for obtaining the RF input signal level during zero scan mode via the USB port. But so far the means to do that eludes me. Any suggestions?

Tom

Even better than a Monitor would be a 9 to 10 inch
Tablet. You could install the tinySA software and make
a killer package.

The directions provided on the STM site was of immense
help. Twelve pages of illustrations with a few words go a
long way.

You know the old chestnut ..."one picture is worth, etc.

Hi Dick, Glad you worked it out. There are several different ways to upgrade, some simpler than others, but the important thing is that you found a way to do it. After three years of reading these responses from both the TinySA and the various NanoVNA groups, it's evident that it's greek to a lot of people (me included) but the knowledge gained can quickly catch you up.

I find the two most frequent cries for help involve either the driver interconnect with the computer (windows or otherwise) , or the upgrade process.?

As many others have commented, the TinySA has always been an amazing instrument, considering it's cost, but the introduction of the Ultra has answered a lot of techs dreams. The capability of this 6GHz instrument compares quite favorable with commercial instruments costing thousands of dollars, and thus beyond the means of the average tech.?

Another really big point is the upgrade path. Changes and additions to the instruments capabilities are being made at lightning fast speed. A suggestion is made on this site in the morning and by the next day it's in an upgrade. As well the response to fixing bugs is just as quick. due to Erik and his team. Try to get? that with a commercial instrument.

I work mostly in the microwave bands above 11GHz where the cost of? having a personal SA at these frequencies is prohibitive. The Ultra is spec'd at 6GHz but can operate above that at a significant? degradation in level, but I've used it to ID 12GHz microwave signals, and it does work if you have enough level to read. The picture below is of a 12.646.5GHz DRO phase locked to 73.956140Mhz at a level of -2dBm. I am amazed that the frequency being read is 12.64650 GHz, although the level degradation is about -39dB , similar to what is being reported by others. And we get this capability for barely over a hundred bucks! (I bought two of these from Zeenko Store)?

Hi Dick, update should not be complicated using windows. :

? ?Enter Tiny SA MAIN site? ? ? =? ? ??

Select Updating the Firmware

Select the instrument to be updated

? ??

Select? Update File .dfu; .bin.I usually copy both to index file?

I use TinySA-App ver 1.1.20.1 for updating with dfu. Never any issues. But can use dfuse.

First six pages of TinySA Ultra Menu Tree Document. Still working on the remaining pages but this latest beta version has the default settings shown, color text for default values like you would see on the screen menu, and minor cosmetic changes. Haven't had time to put in hyperlinks, bookmarks, etc. and will probably hold off on that till the document pages are complete.
