I have a marker on the center of a local FM station. Is there something I am missing hereAs stated in the wiki the tinySA can only do AM detection, to hear FM stations you need to use "slope" detection. This is what I do to listen to the FM broadcast band. Attach telescopic antenna Plug in sensitive headphone Set start to 85MHz Set stop to 105MHz Enable LNA See all the FM stations appear ?Set RBW to 100kHz Enable LEVEL/LISTEN Grab the marker and move on the side of the FM signal (as shown above) Now you may hear the FM station For sure you will hear noise -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |
Re: Unable to get Listen to work on Ultra
Sam, The Listen function works only for AM modulation signals not for FM. Unable to get Listen to work on Ultra
No matter what headphone I try the audio output remains silent. I have tried partial insertion, everything to no avail. I have a marker on the center of a local FM station. Is there something I am missing here?
Also I noticed that often the sweep stops when I check the listen box but restarting the sweep makes no difference. I can set the span to 0 and see the audio so I know that is working with plenty of amplitude. This is a brand new unit I bought directly from the official store so I know it in not a clone. I received it a few days ago, Thanks for you help. Sam W3OHM |

New ULTRA FW releaseErik, ? Using firmware Version V1.3555, I ran tinySA-App in continuous scan mode for over an hour under various operating conditions (switching focus to another application and back, going to screen saver mode, performing screen shots) and could not induce a timeout fault.? Hopefully you have put that issue to rest.? Maybe someone who is using tinySA Ultra to continuously record a portion of the frequency spectrum to disk can test more thoroughly. ? The additional SanDisk file operations in the new firmware are a welcome addition, as are the new command files. Maybe you or DiSlord can provide some example cmd files for setting various color schemes on the tinySA Ultra.? The current $119 selling price of the tinySA Ultra is tremendous value and your technical support makes it even more so.? Any electronics enthusiast would be happy to find the tinySA Ultra in their Christmas stocking. Herb |
Re: New ULTRA FW release: SD card file names and hangup fix
开云体育Erik ? I have the new release ?tinySA4_v1.3-555-g359ccc1 running with connection to TinySA App on continuous scan for over an hour without any problem. The occasional change in the VNA comms trace where the new entry doesn’t feed in at the base of the window (as the screen scrolls up), but the window is largely clear and the entry line is toward the top of the window, ?is now occurring very rarely. So rarely that I have only seen it occur twice, whereas before it seemed to be every 4 or 5 minutes ? A very good result ? Thanks ? Mike G8EII . ? ? |

Re: #ultra Bug in the correction

That is on purpose
You can only update the level using a known test signal using the UI
Use the usb commands to change the frequencies? -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/

#ultra Bug in the correction
#ultra
In the correction for the ultra mode is a bug. It's not possible to correct the level for a frequency in the tinysa itself. If I click on a frequency entry, nothing happens. In the normal mode it works. The only way to correct the levels is to do it in the command line.

So please tell me if I can do some measurements that help you.It would be nice if you can test the latest FW with HARMONIC set to 5 above 6GHz Maybe measure the reported level of a -10dBm or 0dBm input signal every 0.5GHz up to the maximum input frequency (20.7Ghz) Make sure you set the attenuation to manual 0dBm as the attenuator induce a big measurement error above 6GHz. New ULTRA FW release: SD card file names and hangup fix
New ULTRA FW release
Version V1.3555 Changes: - Bug fixed: after some time the tinySA Ultra hangs when scanning using the tinySA-App - Added menu STORAGE - Added option STORAGE/AUTO NAME to enable manual naming of files - Added STORAGE/LOAD CMD function to load and execute commands from sd card - Added STORAGE/LOAD BMO function to browse capture screens from sd card - Added CONFIG/MORE/EXPERT CONFIG/HARMONIC which makes it possible to set harmonic to 5 allowing the Ultra to reach 20.7GHz. All level calibration above 800MHz will be invalid after changing harmonic - Added option PRESET/SAVE STATE, when disabled the tinySA will always start with the range set in the STARTUP preset and not load the last used range. - Bug fixed: In clean output mode it is possible to set output frequencies above 4.4GHz Although some users have demonstrated that it is possible to see signals close to 18GHz, the measured levels will be completely wrong and there is little dynamic range. -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |
Re: Invitation: How high will your tinySA Ultra go?
Hi,
if there is any need, I can do tests up to 40GHz with a Anritsu 37369A VNA, a Anritsu 40GHz source and IFR power meter up to 46GHz.
The equipment isn't officialy calibrated but I know how my tools run ans can be accurate to 1dB up to 2GHz and to 2dB up to 40GHz.
So please tell me if I can do some measurements that help you.
All the Best,
Isidro

Erik,
I am bound by a strict NDA on why, when, and how the units WILL fly. As the project progresses, I will certainly update you if you wish.? My registration has my email, please reach out that way. Now that I know serial communications are an option, three units will go? ...3, 2, 1 ignition! If the vehicle team allows it, there will also be a video. Now, for the tricky part... find four or five TinySA Ultras, for it is out of stock everywhere. If you have the answer to that one, I will put my supply chain folks on the task. Thank you for replying... much appreciated. |
