Locked TinySA II

My wish is that a 4.3" version of the TinySA TFT Color
display could be released. My NanoVNA 4.3" screen is
easy to see and use the touch screen.

Now I see R7, but a picture of the mod on this layout would still be helpful. (Is this the current layout, or an older one?)

I think I have an easy way to solidly mount a readily-available connector for the Listen function, but my PCB layout is different from the picture on the wiki that shows the mod. For example, I don't see an R7. I wonder if Erik could circle the appropriate points on my layout (shown below). Thanks in advance, and I'll show my mod if it works out as expected.

Re: New FW release: Bug solved: entering fractional frequencies corrupts input

Hi Erik,

It is not a problem for me. For testing i can re-install the previously used version V1.3330.
Thank you for your fast answer.

Bert. Remember that critical is not a fail.
It's only to warn you there is less than 5dB margin till fail

Re: HIGH input level calibration

Unfortunately that is not possible.
You can use a calibrated low input to measure any external source between 240 and 350 MHz and once the level of that external source is known, use the same source to calibrate the high input.
An example source is a cable TV signal

Re: Firmware update #tinysa

hi all

I have been trying to update the tiny sa for ages, basically gave up.

this last postinging has been very helpfull

i have downloaded the app, nice graph with a green display.

so how do you update from the app?

went to load settings thats requesting a configuation file .cfg cannot change that, (found update v1.3-347 .bin, .dfu, .elf,)

what is the dfu driver needs to be installed, been unable to find a driver, in device manager it says stm32 bootloader not installed. finally found dfu on the tinysa.

please can anyone help?

many thanks

HIGH input level calibration

Erik, Would it be possible to use the internal signal generator to calibrate the High input in the same way as it can for the Low input?

Re: Firmware update #tinysa

Thanks for all the support. I plowed through it on my own yesterday and eventually got it updated. This is a useful device. tinySA-app is running. Looks really good.

Thanks again.

Re: New FW release: Bug solved: entering fractional frequencies corrupts input

Hi Erik,

After the update to this version and new calibration the self test of my device (original) fails - Test 4: Stopband Critical - Test 6: Above Critical - all Other Tests: Pass.
All other funktions of the device are OK.
The HW version of my device is V0.3.
Thank you for your good work.

I just uploaded DFuSe Demo to the files section. I find it very easy to use. You want to download the update file for the TinySA (or the NanoVNA - it works with that, too) in .dfu format.

Are there any instructions for firmware updating that are relevant and understandable for Windows 11 in March 2022?

As of 28 March, 2022 none of these links are working.

This is the easiest way, but anyway you need that the DFU mode drivers are installed, and that you insure the TinySA is in DFU mode.

Forget all the other stuff and use the app.

Put the SA into DFU mode and click on update. Use the DFU file, not the hex or bin files.

It works every time.

Unless one is quite specific it's very hard for a potential helper to know which set of instructions have been attempted to be followed.

The link at? looks very live (that link is quoted in )

Cannot open DFU device 0483:df11

That means one or both of (at least) two things:

a) that the tinySA has not been put in to DFU mode, or

b) that there is no Windows DFU driver installed. The same firmware update mode is also used for the nanoVNA, and there is a clear-looking explanation of installing the driver under Windows 10 to be found at /g/nanovna-users/message/20899.

The DFU driver issue is not mentioned in the STM32Cube instructions [I don't know if this is an omission or the Cube programmer automagically sorts things out.]

The DFU Driver issue is also not mentioned (is missing) in the generic firmware update instructions to be found at .

I then Googled tinysa firmware update and found the YouTube by Lockdown Electronics. This looked promising until discovering that dfuse demo is no longer available. All links go to STM32CubeProgrammer and the instructions are no longer valid.

AFAIK there is no set of instructions for firmware update that specifically address Windows 11. As for understandable that rather depends on who the specific audience member is, their domain specific knowledge &c.
