Re: Uhf TV monitoring, Antenna testing

Look here:?
Its using cable for demonstration but the type and strength of signals should be comparable when using a good antenna
Towards the end it is shown how you can use a TV signal to calibrate the high input

Uhf TV monitoring, Antenna testing

New here. Can't find where to add my callsign. I'm in the process of replacing my tv antennas.I receive signals from different direction and want to use the TinySA when it arrives to point my antennas and determine if amplification is needed. Open to ideas. Thanks.

I had this problem and it turned out my USB cord that I was using was actually not made with a data line. And apparently it was just for charging. Change chords and fixed my problem.

FM deviation measurement (narrow and wide)

Can the TinySA be used to measure the FM deviation of a transmitter? E.g. the narrow of a 144 MHz TX or the wide of a FM broadcast one? Thanks.

Ah OK, I thought that the TinySA app installed the drivers too, my mistake.

The DFU drivers must be installed separately (and correctly) for this to work.

Martin

Yes, it can work but only if you have the DFU mode drivers installed. Most problems trying to upgrade the firmware (using DFU or whatever) are caused by lacking this driver, that is not the normal one for running the SA controlled by a PC.

Which SA program ?

If it is the Tiny SA app, it has a built in upload feature you can use, which makes it all very easy.

I can confirm the USB cable issue, too.

Yesterday, I went to update firmware using the same PC I originally updated FW with right after I got the tinySA.? I couldn't get it to recognize the tinySA and I spent 20 minutes trying to figure it out.? Finally tried a different cable, and everything worked as expected.

Both the USB to USB-C adaptor cables I got with my NanoVNA and TinySA were bad. I bought a few adaptor cables from a reputable seller and have had no problem with them.

i have TinySA version v-1.3-111-gob2fe54 May 15, 2021.
It operates beautifully and i would like to do the firmware update.? However, I do not see the unit recognized in the DFU program.? I followed the steps as showed in the wiki instructions.
What can I be doing wrong.?? BTW, It works beautifully with a Windows 10 SA program.
Help, please.

This is the tip on my active Capacitive / resistive stylus.? It is a hard tip.? When it is on it will work on my iPad screen and my tinySA.? If it is off it will only work on the tinySA, nanoVNA-F, and IC7300 as a resistive stylus.? I like using it because I only need the one stylus for all the gear I use it on.? I do agree the squishy ball type are not very usable.? The bulb is always to big.? Tried them and hated them.

I was referring to the style with the soft/squishy flexible rubber ball shape at the end - not the hard tipped variety (if those exist).

A lot of the results I got on a quick amazon search looked like they were for the Nintendo 3DS. I saw a 50-pack (not necessarily for the 3DS) for around $10.

The stylus I use is one i found in a drawer here - it came with a resistive touchscreen I ordered off ebay I think.? Mine is roughly the same length as the collapsed antenna that comes with the tinySA, and I like that size since it fits in my custom 3D printed case.

The stylus I use is from an old Garmin iQue GPS device. Small and works perfectly.?

Remember the old PalmPilots? One of those stylus' should work too.

Just food for thought...
