New video: September 2021 feature update

This video demonstrates some of the new feature in the latest firmware update. Most important change is the new TRACE menu allowing full flexibility on how to use the three available traces. An advanced feature demonstrated is how to compensate frequency dependent gain of an amplifier or antenna using a stored trace defined by a table modeling the gain versus frequency

Re: WARNING: Mirfield sold clones after they promised not to do so.

Hello all,
Just to follow up my previous message.
I received my TinySA from Mirfield Electronics yesterday - four days after I ordered it (with a weekend in between).
From what I can see (checking the points on ) it is a totally legitimate genuine item.
I have not updated the firmware yet but it is showing "v1.3-111" dated 15th May 2021.

Re: TinySA Antenna

And on what band you are looking for antennas?

Ok well don't I feel silly now. Okay the "0.3" wasn't the FW version.

I put on my glasses and saw in the text further down the actual FW. It shows 1.3.317 dated Aug 23, 2021.

I'll go crawl back under my rock now...

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hello,? Sorry if this has been already been gone over, but I downloaded the latest

DFU file for upgrading my FW from 0.3 to 1.3.? After figuring out how to get the proper

drivers loaded and the DfuSeDemo to see the TinySA, I was able to apparently get a

successful upload to the TinySA.

?

However, when I check under CONFIG>VERSION, it still says v0.3

?

What did I miss?

?

Thanks

John,

I measured SWR of tinySA Telescopic Antenna by NanoVNA SAA2.

The antenna with max length has good SWR at 300MHz and 740MHz.

It has very bad SWR under 300MHz.

¤Ç¤Ä good grief?

The impedance of a telescopic antenna is nowhere near either 75 nor 50 ohms unless adjusted in length to a specific frequency. It will then be impedance matched on this one frequency only. Any telescopic antenna with SMA connector will work. The input of the TinySA however is 50 ohms.

Re: tinysa can't connect or see in com port or usb connections for PC windows 7 #tinysa

The TinySA communicates with the PC in two modes:? USB Console and DFU mode.? They use different drivers for each mode.
USB Console Mode is used to communicate with the PC application "tinySA-App"
DFU mode is used to update the firmware

WIN 7 does not come with the drivers to recognize the TinySA in USB mode or DFU mode.

A similar problem exists with the NanoVNA which uses a similar USB interface.? The problem is discussed in this document which uses the PC app NanoVNA Saver (TinySA uses "tinySA-App")?

Here is a source for the driver for USB mode . You want? en.stsw-stm32102.zip (STM32 Virtual Com Port driver).? Unzip it and install the Windows 7 version.? After that you can connect to "tinySA-App" by selecting the associated COM port.

For upgrading the firmware you will need to install the DFU driver which is another stp.

Re: TinySA Antenna

The tinySA antenna is for demonstration and some simple measurements only, any tie rod antenna can be substituted, using an antenna that matches your receive frequency will work better.

I inadvertently snapped the antenna at its base. The analyzer is fine, but needs a new antenna. Is there a replacement or substitute I can get for it?

Thanks.

Re: Posting images

Have a look at this post on how to link Windows Snipping Tool to the "prt scr"key.? ?I currently use this with Windows 10 but have previously used it on my old windows 7 computer.

A shortcut to the "PrintScrSnip"version installed in the above method needs to be put in your startup folder.

I use the program called Snagit for this. Works great for posting and emailing anything that shows up on the PC screen.
You can use it to draw a box around what you want to capture and then use paste to paste it in line with your text like the capture below I copied off of the Wiki page. It works with the PrintScreen key and also has an editor and other useful features. It is a pay for program and there could be other lower cost alternatives but it certainly is worth it to me.

If anyone is aware of a free alternative that works as well I would like to know about it.

Re: Posting images

Screenpresso (free) is another good choice. Although with most operating systems in recent years you can just hit the printscreen button and then paste into any image editor (Windows Paint or Irfanview are easy choices). Programs like Screenpresso and Snagit just make the process a bit easier.

Windows users can use the windows snipping tool to grab a picture and then
