You best search for help how on to build xx-saver on the nanoVNA group
I only made a very quick and crude hack to get it working with the tinySA but it is basically still nanoVNA-saver so all building wisdom from nanoVNA is applicable.

Error building TinySA-saver on Linux (AHRL v24/Ubuntu 18.04.4)

Hi Everybody,

I'm trying to build the tinysa-saver PC software for Linux which I downloaded from github.? I'm trying to run it on "Andy's Ham Radio Linux", which is heavily based on Ubuntu 18.04.4.? I'm trying to follow the instructions from here:

Here's what I've done, and the resulting error:

# cd /usr/local/src
# git clone
# cd tinysa-saver
# python3.7 -m pip install .
Processing /usr/local/src/tinysa-saver
Collecting PyQt5 (from TinySASaver==0.2.2)

??? ----------------------------------------
Command "python setup.py egg_info" failed with error code 1 in /tmp/pip-build-yf_tyxmr/PyQt5/

I installed several packages with PyQt5 in the name, to no avail.

Any helpful suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks, and 73,

Andy

Re: tinySA listed on Aliexpress

Depending on the chosen shipping sometimes it stay's in china for some days without tracking

Yes, see wiki:?

When I use an external attenuator, is there a place in the menu to inform the equipment and does it do the necessary calculations with the external attenuator?

Re: tinySA listed on Aliexpress

NigelP

I purchased mine from the initial link posted on here and shortly after got an email from Maggie asking me to confirm full name.

On Monday 3rd I received another confirming "it is on the way", by Zeenco.cn and signed off by Maggie, however when checking my online account it neither shows order or tracking number, is this the experience you or anyone else here has had?

Praying Ive not been stung.

Garry

Re: Spectrum display

Yes for sure Erik, anything to help. It would remove that 0Hz spike and give a nice flat base line.

It won't be today though as I'm in another frame of mind today :) .. I'll get back with some example code or links for you tomorrow or so.

Re: Spectrum display

Ah, I'm working on such IQ gain and phase balancing right now and I would welcome some help with a good example on how to do this.
Can you point me some some code?
I"m sampling I/Q input, doing a integer or float FFT and then I need to do the automatic IQ imbalance compensation (either blind or using some known input signals) but the math is too complex for me and I can not find examples on how to do this

Re: Spectrum display

oh right.

Normally you can apply IQ gain and phase balance cancellation around the DC point (and across the rest of spectrum by linear interpolation using a 3 or 4 points). It's what I do in all the SDR I/Q spectrum processing code I do.

I'll look into it once I know what's what.

Re: Spectrum display

The tinySA is not an FFT SA but super heterodyne. The zero hz spike is the LO leakage through the mixer. Unavoidable in this architecture

Spectrum display

Hello Erik

Got my unit today and have already uploaded your latest release. I like it !

I have yet to look through your code to get to know it (can;t resist) but I was just wondering about the tall DC peak at the start/left of the FFT display. That normally indicates a DC offset of the Real/Imag input values to the FFT. Do you measure and cancel out the DC offset when we do a simple High-Low through cable calibration I wonder ?

Re: Tiny SA arrived today.

Just got mine 15 mins ago, and it's my umteenth birthday today too - very apt :)

Now to find the latest firmware to upload to it.

Re: Reload FW_White screen

Thanks Erik, just loaded the latest firmware 1.0-44 and all is good.
I tried to run it on the tiny sa windows 10 program, but very intermittent no worries all ok...

Re: Reload FW_White screen

Yes, just like the nanoVNA, same two pins to connect
switch off the tinySA
Open the case
Connect BOOT0 with VDD
switch on the tinysa
wait 5 seconds
remove the connection
update firmware

Reload FW_White screen

Hi Erik
My fault!
I tried to upload the firmware, using the usual tool, but found the fw was not readable...
So I simply made it readable - 'now there's the problem'
It then did something and now my dear NanoSA has a white screen only...
Can one reboot it like the old NanoVNA can, by shorting the two pins - hope so!
How can I restore my NanoSA back to normality? Help

Left it on until the battery indicator went red, less the 3v ?I then put it on charge. Will only charge to 3.4v and battery indicator 1/4 full. Has been on charge over 2 hours.?

Does not display 4.2 so maybe charging IC

?Sorry, I will check the additional battery check items and Maggie will send you a new tinySA as soon as possible. Please help check whether vbat displays 4.2V after removing the battery. If it displays 4.2V, it means the battery is faulty, if not, it means the charging IC is faulty.

Erik,
? Correct, delta marker would have eliminated the mental math.

? 20kHz deviation measured using delta marker.

Re: Tiny SA arrived today.

Same here, huge kudos to Erik, Hugen and Maggie

Ordered on Alibaba on July 23
Delivered in Boston: Aug 5

First test: after the initial setup steps, output of my Elecraft XG3 at -73 db into tinySA, 28.2 MHz peak, reading -73 db almost spot on
