Hal,
Can you do the same test as described in this post:?/g/tinysa/message/2769

?

This could also be caused by an attenuator problem but it is not a big problem, just on the edge

It seems your attenuator is bad.
You can verify this by enabling the cal output at 30MHz (MODE/Cal Output/30MHz) and putting the tinySA in low input mode with center 30MHz and span 10MHz.?
Set LEVEL/ATTENUATE/MANUAL 0 (0 dB attenuation) and write down the level of the 30MHz signal
Then increase the attenuation in 1dB steps and see how the noise floor moves up and the level of the 30MHz signal stays the same.
If the 30MHz signal level suddenly makes a jump up or down when changing the attenuation write down the attenuation levels before and after the jump and post your observation.
If the attenuator is bad you can contact your seller and the issue will be resolved

Can you post somewhat bigger pictures of both test 10 and 11 with their message? Not the final selftest status screen

Selftest errors

I just received my TinySA on friday. So after watching videos on how to use it, I ran the selftest and I have a couple of errors. Test 10 gives me a signal level critical error and test 11 give me an attenuator error. I purchased it from R and L in the states so I'm sure a received a good one. Is there anything I can do to fix these issues or should I contact R and L about a replacement for the defective unit?

Thanks,
Hal

Re: New FW release: Corrected hang after display test fail

I just installed the new firmware and when running the self test on test 10 I'm getting Signal level Critical? for the status. Then on test 12 I'm getting Attenuator Fail for the status. I just received my TinySA on Friday so this is all new to me.

Thanks,
Hal

New tinySA failing Self-test after FW upgrade

Recently purchased a tinySA from aliexpress Zeenko Store -

The first self-tests were fine prior to updating the firmware, but I'm having failures on Test 10 and 11 since updating to the most recent.? Did I do something wrong in the process?

Re: Attaching the lanyard

Oh there's the hole! Thanks. That's very helpful. That wouldn't be a bad thing to add to the Wiki or starting videos for us old guys with bad eyesight.

Low Output Mode - 1/10 db steps #feature_request

I find that the TinySa is very useful as a signal generator and use it to test my SDR receivers and some RF projects I am building.? The new slider features and the external amp make it more easy to use. ?

One feature that would be very nice is an additional line on the menu bar with 1 and 10 dB step increments and decrements that could be activated with a single tap.? Tapping twice on +10? once would increase the level by 10 dB and two taps by 20 dB.? Tapping on the -1 dB would decrement by a dB for each tap.

I created a Menu screen to show what it might look like.? I hope Erik will consider this feature request.

Re: Attaching the lanyard

Rob,
There is an oblong hole in the back case near the jog switch.? Push the small thread loop through there (it may take a tiny tool to help), then thread the pick and lanyard through the small thread loop.

This one is passing the self tests correctly.)

Erik:

Thanks for the new 1.76 firmware. I loaded it, and have discovered (as was suggested ) that my display is NG... that throws the error.
So, I'll live without waterfall, the unit still performs amazingly well, and the more I use it the more I find things to do with it!

Thanks.

Steve.?

New FW release: Corrected hang after display test fail

New FW release
Version V1.1-76
Changes:
- Corrected the bug that caused a hang after a failing display test.

The display test is no longer the first test but test 11.
Test 12 is now the attenuator test and it will take some time so wait for it to finish.

Re: TinySA (Real-one) and V1.1-74 ad 75 bug?

As the waterfall is also not working this "hang" is caused by an error in the self test when it detects it can not read correctly back from the display memory.
I will correct this error in the next FW release.

Re: TinySA (Real-one) and V1.1-74 ad 75 bug?

Just had another look, the instant I hit the Self Test mode, I see (for a very small fraction of a second) a line of dots or dashes at the very top of the screen.
They only exist for maybe 0.1 seconds or less... then it freezes / twitches..? ?Blink and you miss them!?

Steve?

Tip of the day

For the real TinySA with the white label, you can "laminate" the label with a piece of clear packing tape placed over it and carefully trimmed to fit the space with a sharp hobby knife. Recommended if you handle the unit a lot. Mine was starting to show wear of the print in a short time.

Hello Erik,?

This test was with 1.1-75m freshy loaded.? ?My tinySA is HW V0.3? ? SN SA-20102809

The Level Cal works as expected, green progress "bar" etc, and completes.
However, the Self Test does not show the same green progress "bar"...

The only thing that appears to change is that the display reference level jumps from -90dB, to about -50dB. Please see attached photo above. .?
At that point the unit is in that frozen twitching mode. I have to power cycle to resume operation.?

I really appreciate the fast response and your help here!

Best!?

Steve
