Re: How to apply frequency-dependent Antenna Factor

at 77.5 years, I learn something new everyday!? But this topic makes my head hurt (in a good way)!? Thanks folks!

The same thing happened to me. In /AppData/Local/QtTinySA I deleted the QtTSAPrefs.db file and in its place I copied the QtTSAPrefs.db that comes in the .zip
?
Thanks. That worked.

Re: How to apply frequency-dependent Antenna Factor

Once you have worked out how to do it and have some measurements it would be nice if you could share some experiences as this is for sure a more advanced topic for many users

That's great to hear. The application of AF was the only outstanding uncertainty I had about the TinySA before I buy it.

Re: How to apply frequency-dependent Antenna Factor

You can enter the AFs and readings from the SA into separate columns within EXCEL and let that app do the arithmetic in a third column.? In addition, you could have EXCEL plot that corrected data with radiated emission limit lines.?

Thank you for the suggestion. Is the trace limited to 8 points linearly interpolated?
Yes
This may work fine in a pinch, but ideally I someone upload the full table of AF measurements (there's about 120). Could this full table be put on the SD card and subtracted from measurements?
Yes, Suggest to measure the exact frequency range of the antenna and store the trace on the SD, move it to a computer and edit the 450 values to reflect the antenna, move back to tinySA and load the trace from SD and subtract from active trace

Re: How to apply frequency-dependent Antenna Factor

Using TRACE/CALC/TABLE TRACE you can create a trace containing a 8 point linear interpolation of the AF versus frequency.
Suggest to use TRACE 4 for the table.
Now you can use the TABLE TRACE as correction by selecting TRACE 1 and using TRACE/SUBTRACT/TRACE 4

How to apply frequency-dependent Antenna Factor

Good day,
?
I would like to know whether I can apply the Antenna Factor (AF) for my calibrated biconical antenna to measurements being made by the TinySA Ultra. Antenna theory refresher: The AF is a value that lets you go from measured intensity to actual E-field intensity. It is critical when doing compliance testing of radiated emissions.
?
If the AF was just a single value I could apply it to the TinySA settings as a pretend attenuator between the antenna and the TinySA. But the AF of my antenna is highly frequency-dependent, varying by over 20dB over my frequency range of interest.?

Re: Tinysa ultra zs-407 real or fake

Thank you, you are super fast with the answers!?
Writing the first question, I was basically positive theory where both ok, but just in case, I wanted to make sure with somebody who actually knows what he is talking about.... Thank you for your time, and sorry for bothering with such trivial questions... Again, I am just starting to learn about radio frequencies!?
Thank you also for such a great and cheap device! It's a incredible thing to have, considering that just a few years ago to have something like this was impossible for the average radio amateur basically....?

Re: Tinysa ultra zs-407 real or fake

You are comparing the Ultra with a, in the video, a 2.8 inch tinySA Basic.
The Ultra has at least 4 dB lower noise floor and the basic does 4 times averaging
This explains the difference in noise you see at the bottom of the trace.
?
Below screen capture uses TRACE/CALC/AVER 4
?
?
Compare this to the tinySA Basic with the same input signal

Ok here are photos and videos....sorry ti took forever, the forum didnt accept the size of the message so I had to search my old vimeo....
The signal from the hackrf is one per time, i dont have splitters. 10 db attenuator stays always on top of my hackrf just in case.
The top/without screen protector/wrong date is the banggood one
The bottom/screen protector/right date is the aliexpress zeenko store one

Tinysa ultra zs-407 real or fake

Hello. Me and my friend bought both a zs-407. He didn't know better and bought from banggood... and I bought from the aliexpress zeenko store linked in the wiki.
His device arrived earlier and we tried the same things done in this video by Mr. Kaashoek, and we where a little confused.
The device was showing a lot of signals that in the video are not seen, but all the tests didnt passed, even affter updating the firmware....so we waited my device to see the difference. There is basically none....same dbs same shapes....now wea re very confused....because it could be both are genuine, and the wave seems different from the tinysa of the video because the ultra has a bigger screen and can show more mm of graph....or has better sensors....or they could be both fake, but...zeenko store selling fakes? I can post a video if needed.
?
Thanks in advance for any help

Re: QtTinySA update to v1.0.2 #software

I hope you don't give up on the windows version. I can't get 1.0.2 to start on Windows 11. I see that it did create the QtTSAprefs.db file in /AppData/Local/QtTinySA. But the command script ends with some kind of Error. The command window closes before I can read the error. Any suggestions?

Re: Pre-sale, tinySA ULTRA plus

Tecsun has some nifty tiny receivers that will double as a powered speaker and also record the audio. I have a Q3 that I purchased for just such tasks.

Hi Richard,

I just purchased the 406 from R&L arrived today. Mine has the same marking. My confusion is that the upper right under Zeenko is ZS-405, but S/N is SU-406-xxxx H/WV0.4.6. So did "they" forget to update the upper right?
