Re: Invitation: How high will your tinySA Ultra go?
I measured with a Wiltron generator, Tinysa ultra 20 GHz level is -18 dB to the input, harmonic 5.
?
?
Be careful, input attenuator works better at 20-30 dB and attenuation/impedance tested with network analyzer from 8GHz onwards is not specified, anyway great job Erik. I am evaluating if it is possible to improve the first version of Tinysa at 20 GHz.

Re: Battery of my Tinysa Ultra expired & no new available ! Does "smart" power bank is compatible ?
Thank you for both David & Shirley for trying to assist me. But, replies are opposite & for that I'm still in controversial !
?
I think that the final cut judgment is by Eric, the designer of TinySA Ultra. My device is TinySA Ultra ZS-405. I will be very thankful for Erik if he will comment about this issue.

DAB isn't all that good and was allready surpassed by streaming when introduced. AM and FM are much more reliable. DAB is difficult to receive, even in urban environments you often need an outdoor antenna. And in the beginning receivers where very expensive.
Here in the EU (NL) it never really took on. It than was made mandatory for new cars. And a rule was introduced that every FM broadcasting station had to deliver a digital stream for DAB. Just to push DAB to the general public.

Choose between the following:
- a system with wide range, low energy cheap receivers, still working with low signal with some noise and mono, good penetration into buildings.
- a short range system with high energy costly receivers, not working at all whith poor signals, mediocre penetration into buildings.
- a short range system with? many transmitters, receiver build in to your phone, good penetration into buildings.

For me DAB stands for Dead At Birth.

开云体育Hi AGA001 Thank you for you comment Actually I first now found out about the SA-5 and did see the TechMind video, where he show (and saluted) the contend of the printed manual, which is my manual ripped for any reference to TinySA Ultra and the persons involved beyond me. AM is important becouse it covers better and is the source for emergency broadcast communication to the general public.? I find that the problem with AM is too much ownership by a handful of companies, who aren't local. Making desiminating that local emergency communication often imposable. Then there's the problem of local radio interference from power companies or other devices switching power supplies, or other sources. My Honda Accord is quite quiet RF noise wise. That should not be an issue with any high quality power bank. The bank always starts at 5V, and will not produce any other voltage unless the device negotiates for it. The tinySA will not do that so it will be safe. On Fri, Feb 7, 2025 at 10:55?AM David J Taylor via <davidtaylor=writeme.com@groups.io> wrote: On 07/02/2025 11:12, yousifjkadom via wrote: |

Battery of my Tinysa Ultra expired & no new available ! Does "smart" power bank is compatible ?
Hello.
?
I have Tinysa Ultra (1st hardware version), & using it as panadaptor to my ICOM7100 ......
?
It's built-in lithium battery is expired & I searched in my country, Iraq, for new original replacement but I couldn't find !
?
I found original power bank of smart type that has "smart" charging controller & support multiple types of voltage output (5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 20V, 5 - 11V) with maximum power output of 85W. The "smart" power bank "automatically" determine needed voltage for the device .... I asked about it & one of my friends (YI6AT) asked me to never using it to power my Tinysa Ultra or my antenna analyzer because it can destroy such devices !
?
Due to my failure to find original replacement for battery of my TinySA Ultra & because the "smart" power bank is original & of high quality I prefer to ask about it's safety to be used with my TinySA Ultra. So, please help me about this.
?
Data about power bank:
- CUKTECH Power Bank
- 20000mAh 85W

?
- Output: 85W MAX (The maximum output peak power is 85W (OUT1 20V DC 3.25A OUT2 9V DC 2.22A), subject to the actual testing method adopted by CUKTECH lab.
* OUT1 (Type-C1) 5V DC 3A, 9V DC 3A, 12V DC 3A, 15V DC 3A, 20V DC 3.25A, 5 - 11V DC 6.1A 67W MAX

?
Can I use this power bank to power my TinySA Ultra while I'm using it connected to my ICOM7100 ?? (we added IF output port for this station: YI1ZQ made such customization for his STN & for my STN)
?
Any help is appreciated ! |

TinySA Ultra becomes unresponsive when touching the screen or using the toggle button to bring up the menu
Whilst using the TinySA Ultra to take signal measurements yesterday, the device became unresponsive. I have power cycled the device and we have updated the firmware, with no improvement.
?
The device starts and launches the FFT screen with the attenuation and frequency marker which can be moved with the toggle. However, the amplitude is not shown on the grid.
?
If the toggle is pressed, the menu opens and the device becomes unresponsive.
?
If the screen is touched, the device becomes unresponsive.
?
Has anyone had any experience with this?? |
