Re: Ham bands

开云体育

Hi Erik,

I just noticed that the Ham Band shading is incorrect for three of the USA band allocations. (I didn't check bands above 800MHz.)

The 75/80 Meter band is 3.5 MHz - 4.0 MHz, but is only shaded from 3.5-3.8.
The 40 Meter band is 7.0 MHz - 7.3 MHz, but is only shaded from 7.0-7.2.
The 6 Meter band is 50.1 - 54.0 MHz, but is only shaded from 50.0 - 52.0.

Re: Quick general questions on persisting the calibration data

Thank you Erik.
Regarding the level calibration for the higher part >5.34GHz, would a square signal with lower fundamental (e.g. 1.78GHz) containing a strong harmonic at exactly 5.34GHz be sufficient, or do we need a clean tone (mayby suppress the fundamental with a highpass)?
?
Thank you for the "reset" advice. Well unknowingly I used it a couple times... Alternatively using "clear config", will this for sure delete everything related to calibration towards factory defaults?
?
Thanks again, I admire your good work!
Greetings from Canada
Lutz

Yes
At the same token, when "resetting" the calibration, will that reinstate the factory defaults on this category and delete all additional level correction entrees (if indeed they are all saved as taken?) ??
?
You should never "RESET" a calibration as the current implementation of RESET is undefined and not updated for some time. I will remove that menu item
?
?
A second question: In the "expert config" are undocumented entries: "direct mode" and "linear averaging", what are they, where can I find a complete manual to do my RTFM?
I would imagine that the linear averaging means that when enabled (default ?) it will blend the level calibration (table) pieces where they are concatenated?
?
I've updated the WiKi menu tree for you:

Still being new to this and currently trying to calibrate a little better (or perhaps purpose oriented) than the internal automatic calibration is doing.

Thanks in advance

Re: Tiny ULTRA. Scan made with in bundle antenna. is it a normal spectrum?

Perhaps you could terminate the input with 50 ohm and see what it scans.?
It should be a near flat line.
?
And don't forget hdmi causes a lot of signals, as does other computer equipment.

The 5Ghz is not present at all and the nearest frequency near the 2.4Ghz is 2.16.
Is it a normal behavior?
Thanks
Did you add a second trace with the "calc" option "max hold"?

Re: wanting to update firmware.......

Mark,
If you are worried about the update, you can always save the FW that brings yours and reload it again if in the new version it does not work.

Dear Mark,

if You bought your Ultra from suggested supplier, You got the original.

There is no room for further questions!

If You're still not sure, You not bougt from suggested supplyer.

Re: SA Ultra in Listen mode on startup

Keep the jog button pressed to the side during switch on
If that solves the problem do a level calibration

wanting to update firmware.......

Hello,
?
I bought my Tiny SA Ultra some time ago from the suggested supplier so I am led to believe it is genuine.
?
I have been lurking here for some time and have seen many messages from people who have "stuffed" their Tiny SA ultra's because they bought a clone.
?
I worry about upgrading mine, just healthy paranoia :)
?
Is there something I can post about my Tiny that will tell me that it is an original before I upgrade the firmware.
?
I know Erik knows.
?
I'm not asking for the "secret" to determining clone v original, just want to confirm that mine is original.
?
Thanks

SA Ultra in Listen mode on startup

I once turned on Listen mode on my TinySA ultra and shut it down - now it starts up in Listen mode by default every time; I have to manually uncheck the "Listen" checkbox at each startup.
It saves all settings (e.g. frequencies) except the now unchecked "Listen" mode?
?
Version:
v1.4-137-g1806825
?
Is there a way to reset this behaviour to factory default (i.e. start up in normal display mode), without deleting the factory calibration data?
?
Looked at the firmware changelog, couldn't find a bugfix for this particular issue.

Re: ZS-407 Spurious Signals

I hope to release a new FW that solves this problem later this week

OK.? Even I've used that sort of TEM cell.? Thanks for the cliarficatin.? I did not read the original posting if I even received it...?? Thanks, again.

Hi Otto, Dave and Eric

I took a quick look at my new ZS-407 last night after reading your posts. I too have the the spur described with a terminated input. 533.775 MHz at -70dbm. I didn’t drill down into the carrier, but might do so today before I upgrade firmware to the latest version.

Also it appears it might be intermittent with scan and RBW settings. We’ll see.

Everything else works great. Only thing I noticed was the noise floor across the spectrum measures slightly higher than my other two Ultra ZS-405 units by several db, but I believe an earlier description of the specs mentioned that.

Re: Grounding a TEM Cell

The TEM cell should be a completely closed Faraday volume.? If it maintains its "new" integrity, there should be nothing leaking into the volume.

I've used a TEM cell some 500-feet from a major cell tower.? I can not detect the emissions from that tower with nothing in the cell and with the cell completely closed.? Further, a major compliance lab. is located roughly 2-blocks from the location of the TEM cell and the chambers leak just a bit of the cell tower emissions.?

"Grounding" is often thrown around as a solution to everything bad with RF.? It seldom solves anything!? With absolutely nothing in your TEM cell and the cell closed, what does the spectrum show when connected to the SA?? With the SA outside the TEM cell or the cell open, do you detect any emissions around 700 MHz?? What is the quality of the coaxial cable connecting the TEM cell to the SA?? Of course, lots of other questions, but that should do as a starter.

Hi to all.

Right now I'm using TinySA Ultra for conducting some test in order to reduce some harmonics around 700Mhz on my product.
?
The issue is that the TBTC2 tem cell is able to catch a lot of interference in the area where I live. Everything is floating since the product is battery powered and the TEM Cell ground is connected to the shield of coax cable up to TinySA (used not connected to PC).
?
Maybe grounding everything to the house earth could be a good or a terrible wrong idea?
It could help? The conductive tent is a must?
?
Can you help me in this?
Thanks

Copy that and thank you so much.
?
My test are to be sure the system is working correctly since I'm thinking about using it with a TEM Cell for EMC precompliance.
?
Unfortunately I'm getting a strange resonance no matter what at around 700Mhz and testing more than one product.
I would like to be sure that the problem is not related to acquisition system.

Thank you so much
