Re: What to do when a selftest fails
I recently discovered that my TinySA Ultra fails self test No. 14. As you can see in the attached photo, it displays “Signal level Critical”. Another photo shows it failing Level calibration (100kHz to 5.327GHz) with the output “Signal level incorrect”. I purchased this device from the Zeenko Store in January this year, and I remember that it did not have these problems at least when I purchased it. The screenshots show the results using the latest firmware (v1.4-189) at the time of writing. I have tried several previous versions, including the version (v1.4-142) I purchased, and I have obtained the same results in all cases. I have executed CLEAR CONFIG before each test. I have also tried several other SMA cables, but the results were the same. Apart from the above issues, the device seems to be working fine. However, it seems difficult to use it for serious measurements because it cannot be calibrated. I would be grateful if you could tell me how to deal with this. |

Send triggered message over USB
I was curious if there was a way to send the triggered state of the tinySA over USB. I would like to be able to monitor some specific bands trigger at some threshold then store the data and then send it over serial for further processing. I can't seem to find a way (without modifying firmware) to do this.
?
The advantage I see in doing it this way is that the analyzer is inevitably faster at doing this then if I try to constantly poll scanraw -> process for hits ->? then store? to my computer.
?
All ideas are welcomed, I'm still new to this device.

Does the tinySA Ultra ZS405 Recording Capability?

Does the tinySA Ultra ZS405 have the ability to record data over an extended period, such as 5 minutes? Currently, it only seems to offer a capture feature for screenshots, but I want to log raw data continuously so I can review it later for specific time frames. |
TinySA ULTRA right/bottom-most gridlines no longer render
Hello, first-time TinySA user here. I got an ULTRA so not sure if this issue also exists in its predecessor. It came loaded with FW version 1.4.156 and the gridlines were rendering "properly", looking like this: (NOTE: The images in this post are from existing posts as I'm still learning my way around this device. However, I've tested different versions of my own device as well.) I then updated to the latest FW version 1.4.189 and now the gridlines render like this: Note that the gridlines at the right-most and bottom-most side of the grid are missing, which I think makes the UI look a bit weird, as if the display is getting cut off. When I first noticed it, I thought that something was wrong with my screen (hardware issue) but then I traced this to two commits in the repo from April 23rd, 2024:
After reverting these two commits and creating a custom build, this seems to have solved the issue (does it cause any side-effects elsewhere?) but I have to wonder why it was done in the first place. The first commit seems to suggest that we use the extra column for the waterfall (so each row has one more pixel) and the second commit to draw a line also seems unnecessary if the grid line is already there. Even with no gridline at the bottom, the extra line still seems unnecessary to me, visually. Wondering what others think about the change. I would much prefer to have the grid rendered fully and can't imagine it would make any significant difference to the resulting waterfall (but I'm not a waterfall user and am new to all this so have no idea if it makes a difference or not).
