Re: Medium waves artifacts?

Wow, powerful stations in your area!
I'll have to wait late night and try with an outdoor antenna
RAI - out national broadcaster -? a few years ago decided to stop ALL MW and SW?? transmissions :-(

Erik,? thanks for the answers and thanks for having given birth to such a fantastic machine !

Re: Medium waves artifacts?

The "artifacts" are due to the stepwise gain reduction of the internal AGC.
The supplied telescopic antenna is a bit to short for medium wave reception. Using a more suited antenna will substantially improve reception

Re: Medium waves artifacts?

Thanks Peter; do you know if the SA can demodulate AM? and USB/LSB ?? (I know it's able to demodulate FM as I can receive several stations on the 88-108MHz band)

Medium waves artifacts?

Trying to listen to medium waves broadcast I set my TinySA Ultra (after calibration )? on a 500-1500kHz band and the response looks heavily artifacted Did I do anything wrong or it's normal ??
(Try to attach a pic , let's see if it works)

Re: Access traces from the SD card via USB cable

Take a look at this fork,?
?
https://github.com/cxy5014/QtTinySA
?
This person seems to building DMG's for mac that follow the official releases, I can confirm this works on a M1 running Sonoma 14.5
?
Apart from some scaling issues (I'm assuming its a retina thing) it works very well, would LOVE a 2D spectual waterful under the trace !

Re: fatal error after firmware upgrade

problem solved, I made very stupid mistake in the upgrade procedure.
btw, the reason for the firmware upgrade was a selftest error in step 3.
This is fixed by re-calibrating the TinySA-ultra.
met vriendelijke groeten, Gerrit
(btw2: TinySA is a fantastic tool, must have for all hammers
and compliments for the designer Erik and lots of compliments for his after sales support)

Re: Access traces from the SD card via USB cable

QtTinySA is written in Python and works on Linux, Windows and Mac under python.? I have no mac so cannot build executables for macOS, or test the python code there myself but I am told it works.? I test it primarily on Linux because that's where I use it, but I can also build executables on Windows 11 and do some minimal testing on 11 and sometimes on 10.? It should NOT work on Windows 7 but I have never tried it.
?
There is a wiki on the GitHub repository that describes some necessary python dependencies.
?
I am just an amateur programmer and do it to learn and for fun and because there was no Linux App before.? If @apple would like to send me a nice small mac laptop I will gladly learn how to build macOS executables on it and provide them as well as the Windows ones that I have no use for :-)

Re: Access traces from the SD card via USB cable

As far as I know there is no executable for Mac, but as I have read that it is a Pyton programme designed to work with Linux, but it works under Windows and possibly on Mac.
?
Have a look on??
?
I'm not a programmer, but I think that using the libraries and mac repository of the languages used, it would work.

Re: Relating noise figure/noise temperature to displayed power on the tinysaultra

I've been designing and building radio telescopes, HF, VHF into the microwave, for 30 years. The TinySA Ultra has revolutionised the way I'm working. Instead of bringing the preamps, amps etc to the lab, I can go into the field and check them. By the nature of the way radio astronomers work, this piece of kit is game changing. Thank you.
