Re: Display replacement
For the similar nanovna, each different screen size requires different firmware modifications - they have done the 2.8", 4", and recently adapted a 7" display to the newer litevna.? So it is highly unlikely that there is any plug-n-play larger screen for the tinySA.? Re: VBW influence
I have viewed the VBW as a post-detection "filter" or smoothing function.? A possible example might be a receiver with a tone control.? That control works only on the demodulated audio.? When rotated to suppress higher frequencies, it "filters" or smoothes the high frequencies such that the resulting audio is now lacking much of the higher frequencies.? As such, if one displayed the result on an o'scope, it would look smoother with less high-frequency (audio) spikes.? Look at the VBW as a smoothing or somewhat of a averaging function operating only at audio frequencies. Dave - W?LEV ? ? Display replacement
First of all, I want to thank Eric for his work and creating this device! Thank you! I actively use it in my creations and in teaching. TNX! |
Re: Attenuator needed for my purpose?
Well, that's very cool, Dave!? I have indeed worked on many of the models of transmitters and receivers over the past 30 years that company has produced.? Anything rugged enough to mostly survive "normal use" from a TV news anchor or videographer for more than a year is a notable piece of equipment in my book, so thanks for your contributions!

VBW influence
Hi expert
I have confusion about the infulence of VBW, in my knowledge, according to the block diagram of the spectrum analyzer, when VBW > RBW, the bandwidth of VBW will great than the video signal(limited by RBW), so the video filter will not filter the video signal, then the change of VBW(still great than RBW) should not affect the smooth effect of the trace. But the actual display is not suitable for this guess, I think I must miss something about video filter. So, pls help! any explanations are welcome£¡ |
Re: TinySA Ultra generates signals while sweeping
We used to live in the mountains west of Fort Collins, Colorado.? The ground with minimal soil pretty much consisted of typical Pegmatite with large crystallized quartz, lots of feldspars, and some muscovite (mica).? When I walked the property with my Whistler / Tweak receiver, on stepping on the pegmatites, I always received quite a report from the receiver.? It sounded much like static and occured only when I put pressure on the pegmatites.? I accredited that to breaking and/or stressing the bonds (piezoelectric) within the silicates of the pegmatites.? I have to believe that a precursor to a quake would generate a similar report, but much stronger and wider in bandwidth.? For those who are unaware of Tweaks and Whistlers, they are an electromagnetic (radio wave) emission at "audio" frequencies, usually less than 10 kHz.? Re: Attenuator needed for my purpose?
Yes, I once worked for?? LEC? TRO?? SON?? ICS, ? Lectrosonics, the wireless mic. company (and more) in Albuquerque, New Mexico.? I always got a kick dealing with suppliers and reps, especially those from back east.? They invariably would ask if they needed an export license.? I fired back with, "What's between eastern Arizona and west Texas?"? Many did not realize that was the place of the fifth largest state in the lower 48 - New Mexico.? And that it was, indeed, one of the lower 48.? It always gave me a smile. Dave - W?LEV On Wed, Jun 5, 2024 at 2:50?PM Derek H via <hansonsoundcorp=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: No signal visible in IN ULTRA (LNA) CURVE calibration
#bug_report
Sorry for my wrong reply, please ignore.
The official maximum input frequency in Ultra mode is 5.34GHz. Some HW samples have an out of spec LO that can go higher so some extra points where added, just in case they where needed. Please ignore these when calibrating and you do not see an input signal In normal input mode the tinySA switches between Ultra and Harmonic mode and at 5.51GHz it is operating in Harmonic mode. Use the HARM curve? above 5.34 GHz -- Designer of the tinySA For more info go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |
Re: New FW release: EXTERNAL GAIN restored after restart
I would like to thank you for answering my previous question. You are correct: the information is already saved in a PRESET, so it is not necessary to store it in the RTC RAM with every click. However, the only detail that seems to be a bug is when switching between modes and also when accessing any mode within MEASURE.
Thank you again for your attention and clarification! |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYeah, there is. Check out the next hamfest, they're cheap (~ $2 ea) Mike C. Sand Mtn GA On 6/4/2024 2:41 PM, Richard B. Emerson

Er, nice thought but not particularly cost effective at about 50% the cost of an Ultra (or 2/3 of an Ultra via DigiKey - are they nuts??). Surely there's something a little more cost effective.? |

There is a problem with the calibration points for very high frequencies.
Try to sweep the generator a bit around the target frequency and you may see the signal -- Designer of the tinySA For more info go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |

Ah, the problem happens when switching between modes. That can easily be solved. Once in a mode the EXT GAIN should be restored after power cycle Why is it not sufficient to store these in the config or in the startup settings? ? -- Designer of the tinySA For more info go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |
