Re: FW Update - Other Alternatives?

Horace,
Can you open the windows Device Manager on both computers and see which driver is installed for the tinySA when connected in DFU mode?
ST has released multiple driver versions and you never know which version windows has/will install.
It would be good to know which version works, and which not.

FW Update - Other Alternatives?

Good morning.

I spent a few hours trying to update the firmware on my Dell Precision M6700 laptop, an old one, but still reliable. I tried the STM32Cube Programmer and the DfuSE apps but none could recognize my USB which probably meant that I did not have that hardware from STMicroelectronics. None of the apps can recognize my USB. And I just couldn't sleep on it.

This morning, I installed the STM32Cube Programmer on my other Dell Desktop Computer and voila, it recognized the USB where my tinySA Ultra was connected and I was able to update my FW.

So my question is what other alternatives do we have aside from using STM32Cube Programmer or the DfuSE apps? if they can't recognize the USB drive? Luckily I have my desktop that worked. But what if I didn't? I'm asking this on behalf of all those who posted about the failed FW Update. I read through it without a solution. Are there compatible drivers (non-STM) that could work with the STM32Cube Programmer and/or the DfuSE apps?

Thank you.

Re: Charging Lead

Thanks Erik,
I'm an old bloke and all the differing leads drive me crazy!

What type of lead do I need to charge my Tiny sa? I have managed to lose the one I had.

Thanks

Jonathan.

Hi Don ,

Re: E-mail

You may also log in to your groups.io account and check tab "Your Activity" for entries like "Email to ... is bouncing via system". This indicates your mail provider is rejecting the email.
I ran into this after adding a daily digest email for the 5th groups.io group: randomly one of the five emails bounced - obviously the provider's spam filter kicked in.
My solution was changing my groups.io destination email address to a different one, hosted by a provider with less strict spam rules.

Re: What to do when a selftest fails

Success, the new unit I got from one of the approves sellers on Amazon self-test just fine after the latest firmware upgrade.

Thanks for the help Erik.

Patrick,

Check your configuration for this group. You may have selected the no email option which can be further configured for no emails at all - web interface only - or admin notices only in your email. If the digest option was set you would be receiving those and would know.

I hope this helps.

Re: SEEII version TinySA

Good morning
Interesting feedback
What is the error made following the update??
Forgot CONFIG/MORE/CLEAR CONFIG??
Forgot CONFIG/LEVEL CAL/CALIBRATE??
Then CONFIG/SELF TEST
Daniel

Re: SEEII version TinySA

So I did contact Erik -?
He walked me through my device and my errors. Device passes tests and appears to be a valid unit.
?
It was my own fault. I had been using a other equipment for quite some time and I made the error of not reviewing the documentation when upgrading and testing the TinySA when I switched back over. You know the saying about "assumptions".
?
That said - I apologize if my comments seemed to bash R&L. The response I got from them earlier made me wonder. I was only looking for assurances that I would a receive valid unit when I order the TinySA Ultra from them.

Re: PC app - driver for Windows 8

OK - After several abortive attempts I finally convinced windows to update itself with a proper driver. Along the way I found a generic COM USB driver that I installed - it didn't work, but when I removed it it Windows decided it could find the proper one after all! Who says computers aren't alive!...

Please stop asking this question.
Only when a selftest fails you should ask for help

PC app - driver for Windows 8

Does anyone know of a suitable driver for Windows 8 that will support the PC App for TinySA Ultra please?

Re: What to do when a selftest fails

How can you recognize a clone?
I recently bought a tinySA Ultra from Eleshop.
The back looks exactly the same, only the serial number has changed (S/N SU-24014865).

Indeed, also a clone.

I've always bought direct from the Zeenko factory store on AliExpress, a better price with no issues.

I understand the desire to buy from a 'known' retailer with a refund policy, but as you have found that is also not without risks.

Martin

Re: What to do when a selftest fails

Already did and told them I suspected they would sen me another clone. I'll take the refund and buy from one of the 2 Amazon resellers you say are safe.

Thanks Erik, I know these must be very frustrating for you.
