Re: Listen to your tinySA

The modification only applies to the tinySA.? The tinySA Ultra has the earphone jack already built in and is located on the bottom of the unit.

Listen to your tinySA
#tinysa
Hello Everyone,
I received my Ultra about a week. I found this page and need a bit clarification about it. 1. It states "AFTER" with slight modification... ? ? ?a.) It Sounds like this is optional. Does this apply to both models? ? ? ?b.) If I enable it, am I "losing" anything? If not, then why is it not enabled by default? 2. Has anyone here made this modification? Any comments about the outcome/issues? 3. After modification and you plug in earbuds and listen or it needs an amplifier when on the go. 4. Would it make sense to add a small potentiometer < 10K and adjust it to a specific value? 5. And the most important question of all is, when you plug in earbuds, do you hear noise all the time? 6. Does the noise volume goes up if RFI is detected (peak or noise floor) 7. Can listen to any radio station? What are the steps if so? I am assuming only AM... 8. Any can share any of his modifications worth mentioning here related to this topic? 73, |

Re: tinySA4_v1.4-76-g7bce999 bug report
Erik,
makes no difference, the only thing that's works, is a clear config, and not using memory 0. As soon i reset to factory default, the problem is back. A clear config solves it, as long not using m0. - Can you try - PRESET/STORE/FACTORY DEFAULTS - restart tinySA - PRESET/STORE/STORE AS STARTUP - There may be a setting not cleared when you do PRESET/LOAD DEFAULTS - - -- - For more info on the tinySA go to - - - - - |
Re: STM32CubeProgramer updtae error
YEAH, Got it to LOAD.
This is ODD. On my laptop, I reinstalled STM32Cube.? I had the TintSA plugged in but OFF.? I shorted the two pins with a jumper, I LEFT the jumper in place, I turned the TinySA back on.? I then heard the Windows jingle that it saw/found the TinySA. I then CONNECTed with STM32Cube to USA1.? I then ran the program, with Verify checked.? That worked. My Tiny SA is now alive again. -- Glen, WB4KTF, Austin, TX- |
Re: Frequency errors above around 3GHz?
Hello Martin (and Erik). Thanks for the prompt replies. Yes, 2.4GHz WiFi shows easily, what puzzled me was the 5GHz WiFi not appearing at all, or at least not between 5 and 6GHz.
I have no particular use for anything higher than perhaps the 3rd harmonic of 23cms (3 x 1296MHz), but was slightly concerned that I couldn¡¯t see even a hint of the 5GHz WiFi. Dave G4AON |

My recently purchased SA Ultra shows 5GHz WiFi signals on 4.4GHzHi Dave, I've checked my TinySA Ultra with a GPS locked signal generator and it was only 1.2kHz off frequency at 10GHz. However it does get confused by some types of signal, especially those using digital modulation such as spread spectrum and TDMA. Can you see your WiFi correctly on 2.5GHz (within the 3GHz 'normal' mode) ? I find it quite difficult to find the best settings to observe it, but it's not impossible. The sweep time and RBW settings are fairly critical. Maybe try that before 5GHz and Ultra mode? ? Regards, Martin |
Re: Frequency errors above around 3GHz?
Wifi signals are broadband and, as you have read in the Ultra wiki page before unlocking Ultra, these can appear on different frequencies because the Ultra mode can get confused by broadband signals.
Here a single 5GHz signal The low frequency spurs are generator by the signal generator. And here a 2.5GHz signal with the second harmonic at 5GHz -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/

Frequency errors above around 3GHz?
My recently purchased SA Ultra shows 5GHz WiFi signals on 4.4GHz (no sign of them between 5 and 6GHz) and the harmonics of my 2.5GHz (max) signal generator also appear to be low in frequency, The 2.5GHz fundamental is shown as being on the correct frequency. I do not have a signal source that will go any higher than 2.5GHz, only the WiFi of my dual band (2.4 and 5GHz) router.
I have not seen a mention of these issues, is the real upper frequency limit more like 3GHz, as opposed to the 5.3GHz printed on the case? Thanks for your thoughts. 73 Dave G4AON |
Re: STM32CubeProgramer updtae error
I think the driver is not loading correctly for you.? If you are running Windows 10 or Windows 11 the STM driver will not load if Windows has Memory integrity Active.? The reason is that the STM driver is incompatible with Windows Memory Integrity.
You have to turn off Memory Integrity so it looks like this... Do a search in the Windows search bar for Core Isolation settings. Go to this setting and once you have turned it off you have to reboot the computer.? See if your driver is now says? STM in DFU Mode in Device Manager.??? If it still says STM32 Bootloader right click it and Uninstall.? Disconnect your tinySA.? Look in Windows Update under Optional Updates and see if the STM driver is listed.? If it is select it and install.? Whether it is there or not reboot and then plug in your tinySA in DFU mode.? Hopefully this helps... Roger |
Re: STM32CubeProgramer updtae error
Erik,
The OB and Target Information screen Do Not Change when I hit the 'Connect' Button.? The Target Information fields are still empty. What does happen when I hit the CONNECT, the Table on the OB button fills in, but the Target Information stays blank. What I do find with the STN32Cube is that it will not see the USB1 unless I:? power TinySA OFF,? short the 2 terminals with the shorting plug, power ON, then remove the shorting plug.? Only then does STM32Cube indicate the 'USB1' device.? Yet the Target Information box remains blank after I hit the CONNECT Button. I tried this Driver change that I found here in this group, but that did not do anything, I tried changing the driver to the 'Device in DFU Mode' and the 'STM32Cube Bootloader' drivers.? I still do not find "STM device in DFU Mode", looking in the Device Manager, as Roger suggested.? I do see the USB Device: "STM32Cube Bootloader", when I VIEW "Show Hidden devices" in the Device Manager.screen. Under "USB Devices, I see a "STM32 BOOTLOADER". For anyone who can't find the: "STM Device in the DFU Mode" in the Device Manager list in Windows 10... When you put your device to enter in the DFU Mode, if Windows 10 automatically installed "STM32 Bootloader" as a CDC Device in your system and the DfuSeDemo program does not find any device, there is no reason to panic, it is very simple to change this into "STM Device in DFU Mode". You need to follow this five steps to change this: 1. Right clicking the "STM32 Bootloader", 2. Select "Update driver", 3. Click on "Browse my computer for drivers", 4. Click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer", This will open a list of (at least) two compatible hardware devices: - STM Device in DFU Mode - STM32 Bootloader (assuming the "Show compatible hardware" checkbox is selected) 5. Now you can choose the right driver for your needs. So, you can switch between these two modes at any time. Good luck. Florin -- Glen, WB4KTF, Austin, TX- |
