Bill, I am like you, I don’t do Facebook. I had been under the impression that the money NS gave towards the restoration of the 80 was their TAG tribute. If they do a TAG locomotive I will of course be thrilled. Of the five TAG diesels, four are known to still exist. Only the 50, the Dave Hedges has been lost. If we are dreaming a little - and why not - ?how about a Dave Hedges 2. He was an interesting man. He started with the Chattanooga Southern in 1910, right out of high school. The next year, the corporate name changed to Tennessee, Alabama & Georgia. He was with the railroad 50 years - having ascended to the presidency - when the locomotive was dedicated, thus the road number. He was a hobby farmer and grew grapes and other produce and was known to sell produce at a stand in front of his house. They christened the original locomotive with cider from his grapes. He was a dapper man, I have never seen a picture of him without a carnation on his lapel. I don’t have a drawing of the original Dave Hedges lettering but I do have a good straight on photograph of it. If anyone has any contact with NS or connections, please let them know that any material in my collection including the pic of the lettering is theirs for the asking. Even if they just use a simple TAG scheme. And even if they just need them for promotional purposes.?
