dot 5 missing when writing negative numbers on graphs

Looking at the graphs premade and creating my own grids I've noticed that the dot 5 isn't present when writing negative numbers

Math Input Errors
I am unsure as to why, but the math input for "Add Text label: math input" appears unable to handle UEB Technical. For the quadratic formula ({-b ¡À sqrt{b^2-4ac}}/{2a} in ascii math in brailleblaster) The correct UEB Technical out put is (in ascii since I am too tired to grab unicode): ;;("-b_6%b9#b"-#d;ac+./#b;a) From Mathtype -> TactileView I get "<-b_6sqrt"<;b`5#b-#d"9;ac">">_/"<#b"9a"> I verified with Wolfram Alpha that the equation typed into MathType was correct. I get a similar problem with y= {x+3}/{2z^2} Correct UEB: ;;;y "7 (,x"6#c./#bz9#b);' Output from TactileView: ;y "7 "<;x"6#c">_/"<#b"9;z"`5#b> Best Ryan ¡ª ¡ª ¡ª ¡ª ¡ª Michael Ryan Hunsaker, M.Ed., Ph.D. (he/him) Teacher for Students with Visual Impairments Davis School District Braille Certifications: NLS-LOC Certified Literary UEB Transcriber RIDBC Certified Technical/Math UEB Transcriber Screenreader Certifications: NVDA Certified Expert JAWS Certified ZoomText Certified Dolphin SuperNova Beta Tester Current Relevant Projects: DAISY Consortium eBraille Steering Committee (ebraille specification link) DAISY Consortium eBraille Tactile Graphics Task Force Liblouis and Liblouisutdml development PreTEXt Development --- CALENDAR: Book a 30-minute content or technology consultation with Ryan Hunsaker Calendar (as html): Click Link to Open as HTML Calendar (.ics download): Click Link to Download ics File CONTACT I will reply to email communication between the hours of 7:15-15:00pm MST All correspondence should be sent via email or Teams Email Address: ryhunsaker@... MathType
Is there any particular reason TactileView is sticking with MathType instead of moving toward an option like MathCAT for math rendering/input. MathType is an unnecessary expense for a lot of people and, frankly, MathCAT pretty much covers the breadth of math needs for all but he most extreme use cases, and even then it is easily tooled to meet those needs. creating graphs
2
I'm trying to create graphs for science. When selecting the coordinate system (no functions) tab, this allows me to insert a basic graph but it doesn't allow me to change to landscape. Not sure if this was possible with the previous version. I inserted the graph. It was only in portrait, fused it to bitmap, and then tried to change the view to landscape. It would be useful if there is a way to create graphs by adding or eliminating rows/columns.

Bug

Hello. I have an issue to report. Tactile View isn¡¯t recognizing my printer, the APH pixblaster even though it¡¯s on the list. I have my embosser turned on and attached to my computer via USB. I checked on my computer and the drivers are installed. Thank you! Drawing Tools Icon Bar
6
From the Drawing Tools Icon Bar when i select any of the triangle shapes from the Draw regular shapes option and insert into a diagram i can no longer use my arrow keys on my keyboard to move them. It is possible to do this with squares and circles, stars etc. Maybe there is something new that i should be selecting somewhere to enable this that i'm not yet aware of.

Settings and moving between items
Two issues I've found on initial testing. 1. When software is closed it does not hold settings 2. If a shape is created and then a text box is created, it will not easily go back to the shape to alter it or move it, as it does in my usual version. Comparison videos attached of how it is in both

New beta installation
Hi Andrew I've been given a new laptop for work and the IT person who is dealing with this has found that the Beta version given to me from Jaap is now become my main version and alongside it is the new beta version you have posted. Will that be an issue? On Tue, Dec 10, 2024 at 11:44 AM, Andrew Flatres wrote:

A few bugs
Hi Andrew, I did a little testing today after updating to the newer of the two BETAs you sent out. I found three small bugs, screenshots are attached. In the configuration wizard, on step 3 you can not access the Alignment Fram Settings When opening TactileView the Grid does not default to fill the page, and when adjusted, TactileView does not remember your changes after closing and re-opening it The icon in the top toolbar for what type of grid you are using used to have the currently selected one highlighted, it does not. Additionally, it used to be that if you clicked on the selected grid type, it would turn the grid off, but now if you want to use no grid, you have to go into the grid settings and turn if off there. View Menu

Installed Beta version ok. On the View Menu... Previous versions had a tick beside the options that have been selected when producing a diagram - this does not happen when Show Braille Grid/Show Measurements Grid have been selected. Also the Show Alignment Frame is not an option here for some reason.

TactileView Feedback
3
Hello Beta team I am hoping that you have all managed to install the latest beta build and had some time using it. Have only received feedback from one person and am interested in hearing everyone else installation experience and current workflows. Please also take this opportunity to let me know what you would like to change. I hope to hear more feedback in the next few weeks. Beta Version
5
Greetings, I stopped the installation when it told me to uninstall the version I have to install the Beta version. I read that the Beta would be able to be used alongside my Tactileview. I am reluctant to uninstall my version as Jaap and his team sent me my latest version with some bugs ironed out. Is there a way to keep mine as well as install the Beta? Thanks Michelle

Bug report
3
Hello, when submitting bugs, do we just send to the general [email protected], or is there a different channel I am missing? I had a few bugs right out of the gate after the installation of the new BETA. 1. the installer forced me to remove the old version with no option to install it along side my current version. 2. When activating via the configuration wizard, if I choose to activate for all users, TactileView hangs, and I had to close re-open, and activate for current users. Screen shot of hand attached. 3. Again from the configuration wizard, when selecting my braille table, it popped up and error message saying, "Please select a valid LibLouis table or the Japanese Braille table 'Extra¡¯.¡± The option to even choose Japanese braille to then select one was greyed out and unavailable. I had to close TactileView from the task manager because I could not pass the error code to get back out. A screenshot of the error is attached. This version 2.5.1 includes various fixes and improvements. Please note that you can install the new beta version while also having use of the current release build. I would like to encourage you all to start using the beta build in your production areas, and in the event, that it fails to do something as before please report it. One of the main objectives with this upcoming version is stability so please ensure to keep all feedback and bugs reported through the TactileVIew groups.io channel. Download the beat version from the following link. You will need to extract the file and run the application file to start the installation. To ensure you have successfully installed the version, you can simply visit the About options within Tactileview and confirm it states version 2.5.1.02. <image005.png> TactileViewInstall25100.zip At any time, you divert to using the current release version if the current beta version is experiencing difficulties trying to accomplish the task at hand. Both versions can be used side by side avoiding any further delay in your production. I have attached the release notes for further review but in summary, this version includes: Braille after ink printing mode ¨C This enhancement allows you to print and emboss on the same sheet for those that do not have a two-in printer/embosser. This is a brand-new enhancement, and so further testing is required on this. For this to work, you will need to have a printer and an embosser that shares the same paper size. For example, Index Everest can handle A4 sheets of paper. Would not be compatible with tractor-feed embossers. Improved Polygon and curve tool ¨C We have introduced various methods of creativity on the Polygon and curve tool. UEB integration in equation editor and graph creator tool ¨C Would appreciate testing in this area amongst our braille math gurus put there. Any problems please do not hesitate to contact me.
