Importing to Duxbury
Greetings, I have attached a screenshot. I'm having trouble importing from Tactileview into Duxbury ... it's a 50-50 thing. I get an hourglass that just hangs. I will try 3 or 4 times before the images is imported or I will have to go back to Tactileview, open the file of the image, re-save and then sometimes I will be able to import the image successfully. Are you able to help? Thank you, Michelle

New look and feel with the latest TactileView beta 9
Hi Beta Testers, We've been hard at work adding new fixes and enhancements based on your feedback! One major point we heard was that TactileView felt overwhelming, with too many options to navigate. To improve the experience, we’ve made some subtle UI adjustments—streamlining the interface without removing any functionality. Some unnecessary toolbar items have been moved to the file menu, keeping things cleaner while still giving you access to everything you need. We’ve also rebranded TactileView with a fresh new look that aligns with HumanWare’s identity. #NewBranding Introducing Monarch Mode ? For those wondering how to create tactile graphics for dynamic displays, we’ve got you covered! We’ve added a Monarch Mode, giving you several options for designing graphics specifically for dynamic tactile displays. Export as a PDF – Depending on your settings, you can merge multiple pages into one. For example, a Periodic Table can now be treated as a single large page when opened on a Monarch. Dot View Preview – See how your graphic will appear on the Monarch before exporting. (This feature is still being fine-tuned.) Important Installation Notes Before installing the new beta, please uninstall the previous version to avoid conflicts. Additionally, I’ve updated all your SPCs to version 3.0—if you run into any registration issues, let me know. Download the latest beta from the following link: TactileViewInstall_30004_ cda158cfc4a38d5f.zip We hope you enjoy these enhancements and bug fixes! As always, we value your feedback—whether positive or negative, it helps us ensure the software is stable and right for you. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Graph axis thickness issue
Sorry for all the emails! Just testing away on TactileView today! In graph viewing properties, with my Index V5, even with the thickness of my X and Y axis to the max width (8px), I can not get to two braille dots wide thickness on my actual image. Kinda defeats the purpose of being able to change the thickness in the first place. I believe this one also has been broken like this for a long time. This likely is a nonissue for non-Index/Enabling embossers that may use multiple dot heights. Perhaps it would be more useful to be able to choose how many braille dots wide you want you lines and Axis rather than in pixels that don't ultimately result in a change to the braille thickness. pattern/texture fill preview bug
Hi again, Another one for you. When applying a pattern/texture fill, the preview doesn't update when you change the size or rotation. See the attached screenshot where I have put both size and rotation to max and no change in the preview. This has been broken in "I think" all of the 2.5 versions I have tried, even before BETA. Braille View error
Hello, Another bug for you. I noticed that when in braille view, some dots in my graphic show as light gray, which would typically only appear if the braille printer you have configured is capable of multiple dot heights, aka a ViewPlus/Tiger embosser, if you do a print preview, the print preview does not show braille dots in the location of the grey dots at all. Screenshots of my image showing the grey dots and a print preview screenshot of the same image are attached. Mathtype import error
Hi Andrew, I found a bug in the latest BETA, when I paste in an equation from MathType using the Math text label tool. It seems to paste in fine when I press Paste in Math Equation from Clipboard, but when I press OK to place it into the document, I get an error that says, “Encountered and importer argument,” and the math does not get inserted into the document. Screenshot attached. Same issue when trying to create a graph from MathType equation as well. Line style 2
This new update is brilliant! Very easy to navigate. The undo and redo feature is fabulous. Just to let you know, when you right click an image and the menu shows, the ‘Line Style’ is listed in the menu twice. Both have the same features. This version is a lot smoother too.

BETA Testing 11
Hello Beta team, I would like to know if anyone has come across any issues from the current beta software? How is the integration with Duxbury, as we made some fixes to those that reported issues. On another note, I wanted to ask if anyone uses the toolbar to left and in particular uses the filter options, or when it comes to filter options, you use the main menu item at the top. Below is an image of the toolbar that includes the various icons. I have highlighted the filter tool and when clicked all of the filter will be visible on the right which I have highlighted all the way down. I am intrigued if people are finding this useful or is just cluttering the work space? Hope to hear you from you soon. SPC on another computer 7
Hi, I have installed TactileView on a new computer and deleted off the old computer but it says already registered to another device when I try to add the SPC number. Please can you delete it from your end so that I can use it on my new computer for this weekend as I have embossing that needs to be done. Thank you. Kind regards Sophia

New beta version now available 2
Hello Everyone Firstly, thanks for your continuous feedback, it is much appreciated. We now have a new beta update version 2.5.1 build 103 that contains many fixes that were reported. In particular I would very much like to hear for those that reported issues working with Duxbury. Please do let me know if you continue to get issues in that area. As always please continue to give feedback on any issues that arise. Please find attached the current working release notes. Download the latest Beta build from this link: TactileViewInstall_251003_d721ebc9393.zip Installing the New beta The installer will prompt if it's ok to uninstall a previous 2.5.x version, if such a version is already installed. Press Ok to uninstall the previous beta version and to continue installing the new build. Please note =, It will not uninstall the original 2.5.0.0, or any earlier version. So, there is no need to first install the previous beta version, just starting the installer and following instructions is ok. Labels moving on images when brought into Duxbury 6
Hi, There's an issue with labels. When an image is brought into Duxbury, the labels move to a different place on the image. Example attached of a square A, B, C, D in TactileView and the same square in Duxbury. Thanks Sharon

Escape sequence error 6
Hi, When I send to embosser (Index DV5) I get the following error: “Escape Sequence error receive unknown parameter. Press ok to cancel formatting of document.” The only option is to cancel. This is for bpx I have imported and for new designs. However, sometimes when I send to embosser it just says “Index DV5” and then stops. The page size and paper are the same. I managed to emboss one design I created yesterday, the settings are identical yet it has this error message not allowing me to emboss. please advise. Edit: I had this same message on a previous version but when I pressed ok it would still emboss as the ok button did not cancel the print but allowed it to print.

TactileView Beta - Now available 2
Dear beta tester, I am happy to announce we have our first beta version to cycle. This version 2.5.1 includes various fixes and improvements. Please note that you can install the new beta version while also having use of the current release build. I would like to encourage you all to start using the beta build in your production areas, and in the event, that it fails to do something as before please report it. One of the main objectives with this upcoming version is stability so please ensure to keep all feedback and bugs reported through the TactileVIew groups.io channel. Download the beat version from the following link. You will need to extract the file and run the application file to start the installation. To ensure you have successfully installed the version, you can simply visit the About options within Tactileview and confirm it states version 2.5.1.02. TactileViewInstall25100.zip At any time, you divert to using the current release version if the current beta version is experiencing difficulties trying to accomplish the task at hand. Both versions can be used side by side avoiding any further delay in your production. I have attached the release notes for further review but in summary, this version includes: Braille after ink printing mode – This enhancement allows you to print and emboss on the same sheet for those that do not have a two-in printer/embosser. This is a brand-new enhancement, and so further testing is required on this. For this to work, you will need to have a printer and an embosser that shares the same paper size. For example, Index Everest can handle A4 sheets of paper. Would not be compatible with tractor-feed embossers. Improved Polygon and curve tool – We have introduced various methods of creativity on the Polygon and curve tool. UEB integration in equation editor and graph creator tool – Would appreciate testing in this area amongst our braille math gurus put there. Any problems please do not hesitate to contact me. Happy testing! Math Input Errors
I am unsure as to why, but the math input for "Add Text label: math input" appears unable to handle UEB Technical. For the quadratic formula ({-b ± sqrt{b^2-4ac}}/{2a} in ascii math in brailleblaster) The correct UEB Technical out put is (in ascii since I am too tired to grab unicode): ;;("-b_6%b9#b"-#d;ac+./#b;a) From Mathtype -> TactileView I get "<-b_6sqrt"<;b`5#b-#d"9;ac">">_/"<#b"9a"> I verified with Wolfram Alpha that the equation typed into MathType was correct. I get a similar problem with y= {x+3}/{2z^2} Correct UEB: ;;;y "7 (,x"6#c./#bz9#b);' Output from TactileView: ;y "7 "<;x"6#c">_/"<#b"9;z"`5#b> Best Ryan — — — — — Michael Ryan Hunsaker, M.Ed., Ph.D. (he/him) Teacher for Students with Visual Impairments Davis School District Braille Certifications: NLS-LOC Certified Literary UEB Transcriber RIDBC Certified Technical/Math UEB Transcriber Screenreader Certifications: NVDA Certified Expert JAWS Certified ZoomText Certified Dolphin SuperNova Beta Tester Current Relevant Projects: DAISY Consortium eBraille Steering Committee (ebraille specification link) DAISY Consortium eBraille Tactile Graphics Task Force Liblouis and Liblouisutdml development PreTEXt Development --- CALENDAR: Book a 30-minute content or technology consultation with Ryan Hunsaker Calendar (as html): Click Link to Open as HTML Calendar (.ics download): Click Link to Download ics File CONTACT I will reply to email communication between the hours of 7:15-15:00pm MST All correspondence should be sent via email or Teams Email Address: ryhunsaker@... MathType
Is there any particular reason TactileView is sticking with MathType instead of moving toward an option like MathCAT for math rendering/input. MathType is an unnecessary expense for a lot of people and, frankly, MathCAT pretty much covers the breadth of math needs for all but he most extreme use cases, and even then it is easily tooled to meet those needs.
