how to open two files next to each other (TE 304 b6c)
Hi,
In the melodies I want to make in TE many right hand chords are needed. They must be made in 'scale to 1/64 notes' so no overview because of the width it takes from the monitor screen.
?
In 2013 I had the same problem (#1852 · 04/10/13) and there was a function with 'new window'.
I cannot find it anywhere anymore. Everything I tried ended with the files integrated in only one TablEdit, under menu Window <2>.
Cascade ore the other options don't give enough overview and to and fro with alt tab is so more easy to work with. Making right hand chords is difficult enough so any help I would very much appreciate.
?
I play the diatonic accordion and don't know two open files next to each other is possible for the guitar players?
?
Looking forward to reactions.
Musical greetings from

Kobie,
?
The "New Window" option has disappeared, because now ALL files open in a new window.
?
By the way, right-hand chords are an integral part of an Accordion score. I don't understand why you want to move them to another window.
?
Could you please send a visual example of what your problem is. A screen shot would do just fine.

Matthieu, Because of the amount of right-hand chords in some melodies, I want to make one special chords.tef with all the different chords in it. That way I copy paste them in the melodies whenever I need them. The Guingette I sent you as a example, has to be made all over, because of a mistake I made in the past, and I want to extend it with a contre-chant also with right-hand chords. As you see, no separate windows but window <2> in the menu. Did I miss something in the settings? |
Hi Kobie,
?
Now I understand. You've made a tef file with the most commonly used right-hand chords. Clever ;-)
?
Now if you select - in the tab - and copy the first note of the chord and the following 1, 2 or 3 positions, you'll effectively be copying all the notes in the chord. You can then edit this block or paste it wherever you like.
?
You don't need to be in 64th mode to do this.
?
In the example below, the selection actually covers all the notes in the chord. You have just to ignore the position where the notes are displayed.

Hello all.? I'm working on a piece of music with 2 verses in 48 measures.? The second verse starts at measure 24 of the first verse.? What is the best way to skip the first 24 measures in verse 1 ?
Thanks,
JT

Not sure if this helps, but a solution to a problem I needed help with was answered by Jack Mylius regarding multi measure rests, which save space.? Jack's answer (attached)? solved my problem. On Tue, Feb 25, 2025 at 4:56?PM James Tackett via <jtsdulcimers4409=[email protected]> wrote:

Hi Matthieu, Thanks for your reaction, but... - I could not find the answer for the question of the topic: separate windows for .tef files. There is no mention of it in the helpfiles, FR and English. I made an example with Sumatra pdf and windows explorer. - selecting whatever in TE has always been something of a struggle, the click as well as the dragging. ?I never know whether it is properly selected under the blue stripe until I paste. With chords it often pastes one note less in the end.? Anyway, when separate windows are not possible, please let me know.? Kobie |
开云体育Hi,I'm sorry, but I don't see any TablEdit window in your screenshot. Otherwise, it's perfectly possible to have several files open in the same number of windows in TablEdit.? Let's say you have 2 files open, you can display them side by side with the Window->Tile command. This feature has been available for 25 years ;-) Matthieu PS: It's often more precise to use the keyboard rather than the mouse.

开云体育Hi, And that's my point. Where you see on my screen, that it is possible to have two or more seperated win-explorers, two sumatra-pdfs, and I could have opened up three Irfanviews, eight Excel-sheets, there is never a possibility to see two TablEdits. They always hide in One TablEdit under the menu Window <n>. I can cascade, put them next to each other horizontally, vertically etc. but they never leave the boundaries of there mother TE. So my question is, how do you manage to have seperate TE's, like in Word, Excel etc. I made an other screenshot, with 3 .tef files open. I hope you see now what I mean. Kobie

Hi,
?
Now I understand the question, but I don't quite see the point.?
?
You can't have two main windows with menu and toolbar open at the same time.
?
In my opinion, a display like the one below is more than sufficient for comparing two files and copying from one to the other.
?
This is the multi-document interface (MDI) that Windows has always managed.
?
It's funny that you mention Excel as an example, because in my opinion, the management of multiple files in recent versions of Excel is a real step backwards. I haven't yet found a simple way of making two files appear side by side.

开云体育OK, clear, we have a different point of view on the subject of what is practical for 'me'. Merci Matthieu

Hi,
?
I wrote "in my opinion". I don't pretend to decide what's practical for you.
?
I'd really like to understand the benefit you expect from having two main TablEdit windows (with menu, toolbar and palettes) at the same time.?
?
Have you looked at my screenshot of side-by-side child windows?

开云体育Hi, I did look, but on my laptop there is little space and .. I do like two main windows better. So .. I rest my case and struggle on. Tanks for your effort on this subject. Merci, Kobie On 01/03/2025 13:37, Matthieu
