Kansas Network Repeaters

If every red dot on this map would connect to Allstar 28848, Kansas would
have a Statewide repeater system reachable on Hamshack Hotline, DMR, M17,
P25, and Echolink

This was talked about at a number of hamfests and AUXCOMMUSA.org offered
to help with any group wanting to become 501c3 or be the pass through
funding recipient.

When I last heard, no one was interested in the mission

Regardless, I continue to hope

The Kansas QCWA net meets weekly. Two of the Red dots connect weekly for
that net.

Any others interested?

Hamshack Hotline

I¡¯ve been tracking the number of HH extensions in Kansas for as long as
Sunflower has been in operation.

That network has about twice as many users now.

How about jumping on Sunflower Net to just monitor? A number of stations
with NWSchat are already there?

Don¡¯t have Hamshack Hotline? See the instructions on how to set up your
chorded phone but

Better yet look at their wiki, get Groundwire, request an HHUX extension,
and follow the instructions to set it up.

SunflowerNet.US

It's been three years now since SunflowerNet.US began operation. The
system has been reliable beyond expectations!

The Kansas Sunflower Chapter 79 net and the AuxcommUSA.org nets are the
most popular with stations around Kansas and beyond connecting. The
AUXCOMMUSA.org system is connected full time.

In the new year, new nets will be welcome. Additional system operators are
being sought for training.

Please use the attachment to brief your club meeting.

Come one, come all.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Re: Santa Net request

Thanks, Jerry! I enjoyed our chat this afternoon.

IF we were to connect, it would likely be over Allstar. That's the easiest
way with the best audio being the result.

However, in looking at the Sunflowernet.us calendar, there's SE KS ARES net
on Wednesday night already set. That's the reason I keep the calendar so
people can see where the connections are and are not.

It also crashes into church time. I might set up a hot spot, if there's
interest, so the kiddos can listen but, if there's no interest, I
personally will be in church.

I'm going to tweet about the Santa project. Maybe I can bring some
customers to your effort.

I really enjoy the 3916 cqsanta.com effort. I've listened to them for
years. Some of the requests are quite touching. I am sure you will get a
lot of interest and your share of the heartstring tugging.

Closer to Thanksgiving, I'm planning a blog post listing the various Santa
nets. I will be sure to include yours.

As a point of interest, maybe, the Sunflower Chapter of QCWA net is at 9
a.m. on Saturday. If there's no collision on your side, the KC Wide system
would be welcome to attend.

Thanks again for the QSO on Sunflower.

73 and MERRY Christmas.

Hi Brad and Rick,

I was talking with Lloyd KC5FM who runs the Sunflower net on Hamshack
Hotline and he asked about carrying the Santa net on his Sunflower net.
Brad I suggested he might contact you for information about the Santa net.
Rick I will defer to you if that will work technically or if we would need
to do anything so we don't have any technical problems or loops.

Lloyd could advise his thoughts on a connection.

Thanks,
Jerry Dixon, KC0KW

Sunflower Net

It has come to the attention of Network Administration that connections are
being made to Sunflower from resources that are causing conflicts to active
nets.

Today, for example, there was a system connected that was causing a loop.
The software detected the loop and shut down the digital side of the
network.

Steps have been taken to mitigate that BUT, please remember the calendar on
the web page is there for a reason.

The other issue is there are nets being connected that are not on the
calendar. IF you wish to connect a net, please let an administrator know
so the net can be added to the calendar. Doing this will reduce collisions
of users who want to talk CLEAR ACROSS Kansas and even further.

The system managers want Sunflower to be useful to Kansas users ... and
beyond ... so please be aware of this request.

Sunflower Day August 15

The Sunflower Net is hosting a special event on Sunflower Day August 15
with the reservation of W0S, Whiskey Zero Sierra, as the callsign on that
day.

Stations are encouraged to check into the Sunflower Net using one of the

on Allstar, Hamshack Hotline, Echolink, DMR, Dstar, Fusion, P25, or M17.

Operators wishing to answer callers as W0S should contact Lloyd Colston,

//wl2k Sunday net

The first and so far the strongest convective storms threaten the area
Sunday. The Following is a summary of the briefing I did for the Colorado
Skyhub Weather Net this afternoon.

Looking west into SW Colorado south into the extreme county in the Oklahoma
panhandle, the western half of the Texas Panhandle, the eastern quarter of
New Mexico, and south into the Rio
Grande area of Texas, except El Paso, there is an enhanced wildfire
threat. The Storm Prediction Center states "finegrasses should be dry
enough to support some wildfire-spreadpotential."
Guidance for wildfire is "If you see smoke, report it." If you see someone
setting fire, get the tag number and other identifying features when
reporting the smoke and report that as well.
Do not engage them.``

As you can see, the red blob, the moderate risk area, covers Harmon, Greer,
and Jackson County Oklahoma north and east. Enhanced and Slight risk areas
extend from there. Threats include
wind, including the tornadic variety, hail, and lightning. Remember your
SKYWARN ACES training. As the storms line out and move east expect a
sunset and nighttime event. This is all the
more reason to have taken your annual Spotter Trainingfrom your local
Weather Forecast Office.

Tomorrow, the www.Sunflowernet.us system will be open for Skywarn reports,
during the afternoon and evening. The Youth Skywarn Net may be
disconnected, if there are active reports being
received in Kansas. For Oklahoma, check with NWS Norman andTulsa and your
area Skywarn program. The late evening Missouri storms may be heard on
Sunflower Net when the Springfield
Skywarn system reconnects. Thanks to National AUXCOMM for being connected
for our Federal resources.

Again, Sunflower Net is NOT intended to replace your LOCAL Skywarn effort.
However, any reports received on the Sunflower System will be relayed to
the appropriate NWS WFO. Reports can
also be sent to kc5fm-9 on APRS.FI and KC5FM on Winlink.

The Sunflower Net is a linked system of analog and digital resources such
as Dstar, Hamshack Hotline, Fusion, P25, M17, Echolink, and Allstar. The
appropriate connectors are listed on the web
page. You are welcome to connect your hotspot, cellphone, Hamshack Hotline
device, local repeater, etc. and use repeaterbook.com to find your local
resource that is capable of linking.

As Always, BE SAFE.
