Stablizing question

Hi,

I'm embroidering a 3 letter monogram on a set of towels and I read
some instructions that said to use a cut away stablizer. I usually use
a tear away on towels but I've never done a monogram before and these
are a gift and I want to make sure they embroider and wash up nicely.
Can anyone advice me on the proper way to stablize for this project.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you
Patty A.

Hi, Patty, use a water soluble tear away on the back, and aqua net
topping on top to make your stitches crisp and prevent the stitching
from sinking into the towel. I use Babylock brand stabilizers. When you
are finished stitching peel the aqua net carefully from your towel, any
remaining aqua net can be melted away with a light misting of very warm
water. Hope this helps. Also do not hoop your towel, just hoop the
stabilizer and use basting spray to hold your towel in place, this will
prevent hoop marks on your towel.

Hi Patty,
I do a ton of monogramming. I also used to use tearaway but found
that after many washings it does kind of lose it's stabilizing
abilities. After a while the loops start popping through. I want the
monogram to look beautiful wash after wash sooooo...I use cutaway. I
just trim it close to the design, leaving about 1/8 in around the
border. Another thing I do is use a top stabilizer that does not wash
away. I forget what it's called...it looks a lot like the ultra solvy
used for free standing lace but it stays put forever. It keeps the
design looking brand new because it does not was away. I pull off the
excess but leave the tiny pieces there.
Hope this helps!

I would not use a cutaway on towels because you will not be able to remove it.... a good tearaway works fine. Be sure to use some sort of topper though... tulle to match the towel, WSS, Glad Press 'n Seal, etc.

Cheers.
