growing old is not for sissies
A week ago me and DH decide to buy us each a quadbike. ( DH is a bike
collector and crazy about all kinds) First day we take our bikes for a ride through the wildresort that is quite close to our house. Everything went well and we enjoyed a 3 hour drive through the park and see lots of animals. So we decide to buy a trailer and took the bikes to the kid's farm. The two grandchildren, one 6 and the other one 8 years old was very exited when we arrived with our bikes and they could'nt wait to go with us for a ride. Well Saturday morning everything went well and we enjoy a long safe ride on the farm. The afternoon our son in law came back from his duties and suggest we go to the mountains. He and his wife on a 2 wheeler and Johan and grandson on his quad and me and 8year old granddaugter on my quad. Well as we drive I got more and more scared cause the mountains get more rough and higher but I decided to take it slow and just enjoy the view and the wild. Don't ask me what happened but the next moment I was on the ground with my bike on top of me. Melani jumped off and did not got hurt, she press the hooter to get the others attention. I did not know I was so strong ,with my 2 hands I lift the bike and hold it until Johan came to my rescue. Needles to say I am all broosed up,purple and in pain. Did not break anything but has a stiff back and walks quite funny. I passed out for awhile and can't remember how we got home, all I could remember is when Melani says grandma's face is as red as the bike. Yes I will ride my bike again but never on a rough road and never in unknown mountains. Just glad me and my bike are both all in one piece. Lucky for me I am now only comfortable in a sitting position so no excuses to sit in front of my PC.....lol Maybe I'll sleep in this chair tonight as it is quite painfull to lay down. It was a pretty scary experience and I do have more respect for my bike now. It looks like a toy but it can be deadly. I realise that I can't play 20 anymore and will have to be more carefull with kidsstuff. And I realise growing old is not for sissies..........LOL So glad I did not buy my self a horse cause I won't be able to lift a horse off me....LOL Enjoy your day God Bless Miems |

Miems, I'm so sorry about your accident. One thing is quite clear - you have
a great sense of humor. If you continue to hurt, go to the doctor. You could have done some real damage, which you don't want to go untreated. And you're right - growing old is not for sissies, but as my mother used to say - growing old is better than the alternative! It got her through a lot. Libby |

Miems,
I am so glad you were not seriously injured! Please be careful! We grandmothers don't heal as fast as we once did! Thank God your granddaughter didn't get hurt. Your guardian angels must have been racing furiously to keep up with you on your quadbike! Give them a break---Slow down a little! LOL Take care. Hugs, Norma in MO |
