back ups

Adrienne R. Ferrell

Yikes, I'd hate to lose everything on my computer. I had a crappy old desk top before I bought my lap top last fall. I was always afraid that thing would crash. My husband backs up my computer regularly. Ok, evidence of how paranoid I am about losing my data; we have a fire proof safe locate in another building that we put back up cd's in. We keep the last 2 back up discs, the new one and the one the time before. Sometimes there are more than 2, since my husband and I aren't good at throwing things out! LOL

The point is my paranoia might help if you back up to a cd every so often and keep it off premiss.

If you ever lose your data on your computer, you may just lose a months worth rather than years. I hope no one ever experiences a fire, flood, tornados, or thiefs, having a back up someplace else makes me feel like I wont lose it all.

Sincerely,
Adrienne

It isn't you, back in March I had a computer problem that required me to trade my old crappy lap top in for a brand spanking new one under my warranty...poor me huh. Anyway I made a back up of all my files and when I went to load them I realized I had saved everything to a bad disc. I lost all my work every single bit of it. By the time I found out the hard drive in my old one had been destroyed. So I have to start over, doesn't that soooo suck! The worst part is that I have told people over and over make many back ups do not rely on one but when they called me that my new computer was ready I was so excited I didn't want to take the time to make a back up for my back-up. Oh well

Adrienne, you're not the only paranoid one in the bunch. I too back up regularly and place the cd's in our fire proof box! Dh tells me that the computer would be the last thing we replace should a catastrophe occur, but after a years worth of work acquiring all the designs I have, at least I know I won't have to start *that* search all over again! Thanks for making me feel like I'm not a nut after all! Laura
