Responses to saving designs on email accounts
I should have known no good deed goes unpunished, you try to post
something to help and figure that is could not possibly be controversial and there will be someone who lives so far above the rest of us that they can't take it for what it is worth. If you don't want to do this fine - but you don't have to sign into all these accounts either - download one of the FREE password managers that will do it for you, or possibly you don't have time to do that either. Firefox will log you in to each gmail account with one click - and Roboform will also. Hey you're not protecting the US Mint here - they are designs for your embroidery machine. And I have over 4 gigs of designs - it was stated in my email - I think you read it with the intent of picking it apart instead of what is was intended to do - help people who need it. Free password manager: www.roboform.com I've been using this for years now - the free version with NO problems. Why can't people just take things for what they are intended? My time is worth more to me than spending it on all Your idea may be good for someone with very fewI didn't say I could not afford all the external things - did you NOT read my email? I had them all at one point and I do have 4 gigs of designs. But it is my money and how I choose to spend it is my business just as how you choose to spend it is yours. I choose to save my designs to email accounts, reputable ones. Do you think Google, Hotmail and Yahoo are going anywhere? And if you go and read their TOS you will see they have no sign in requirements. This is not brain surgery or hard to do - every time you get a design you attach it to an email and send it to yourself, how hard can that possibly be? It takes no time other than initially setting it up. It's ok, if you don't have time to do that, but others do and others are being helped by this. One day a CD or a thumb drive or some other system you have will fail and you will come looking for this information. I never give advice unless I have researched it thoroughly because I believe that we owe it to others to keep our mouths shut otherwise. And I have been using this method over 4 years without any problems. And I go into the accounts to retrieve designs to use - wouldn't we all? So why would they just sit there and wither with no use? One other thing - there are people out there who can not afford all the back up devices, and then there are people who live in a cocoon who can't imagine having everything they want at the snap of a credit card. For the people who can't afford what they want, maybe someone bought them a machine and they have a sewing angel who sends them supplies so they can embroider - I send things to people even in my financial situation because I am a believe in paying it forward. Did you read how I have bought some of my designs? I've been poorer than poor but helping others means more than anything to me and I will find a way to do it, that's why I went out and picked up returnables and turned them in at a nickel each to purchase designs to help brighten the spirits of those in domestic violence shelters. I go without things I want, and there is a difference between what I want and what I need, in order to be able to help others. I believe it is the way of the Lord and I try to honor him by living my life this way. For the others who took this for what I intended this to be, thank you for understanding. I truly meant it to be helpful. One thing I meant to tell you is I do have a master list in Notepad where each design is so I can find it when I need it - but I tend to send designs I use for children i.e. Cassandra's tic tac toe boards and things of that nature to one account, all my animal designs to another, my florals to another so its pretty easy for me to find something when I want it. Never takes me more than two log ins to find a design. I wish you all a peaceful and blessed Sunday. ILA in Maine mailto:sewcraftyme@... I convert to ART format for digitizers. Excellent idea! I thank you for sharing as I too cannot afford all those 'extras', and I applaud you and your daughter for helping others less fortunate. Thank you again! Amanda ----- Original Message ----

Ila no one is bashing you. They are just giving opinions. There are
over 12,000 Members on HOE. What works for one, may not work for another. Giving advise that works for you is a good thing. But bashing someone for that has put their 2 Cent's worth in is not! If you ask 12,000 People their opinion or make a statement about something I'm sure you will receive at least 1/3 of a response about what they have and have not tried and what has worked for them. What is good for the goose, is not necessarily good for the gander all of the time. So there is no need getting upset over other people's opinions and suggestions.
