In re topic Unsubbing and being banned NEW MEMBERS PLEASE READ

capri _xau

Hi Lydia,

A group owner has the right to run their group any way they feel fit.
They are not here for your convenience, you are here for theirs and most put in
a lot of long hours to read every mailing that comes in when it is a moderated group.
I'm not an owner of any group, nor do I sell any designs but I've been
around for a long time now and I've seen what goes on.
Maybe the lesson here is that ALL NEW MEMBERS should read the
information that is sent out to them when they join and not just ASSUME
that they know everything. It is an easy trap to fall into, just like you did, and we
have to remember that every group is different and it's rules must be respected.
I've also been on other groups where you were too so just remember
that what you do in one group gets around.
As for not buying from the website owners who happen to expect you to read their
blurbs as payback for the free designs, (and rightly so, too) that's just cutting off
your nose to spite your face. It is the most rediculous thing I've heard for a long time
because you're the one missing out, then, aren't you?

Re-read MaryLou's post below. She also seems to think that you have a problem.

Hugs,

Sherrie

I have always written to the list owners before unsubbing. One list owner
never acknowledged my posts to her and then berated me when I had a
legitimate reason for wanting to come back. I even promised not to download
any of her free designs. I understand that the digitizers use their yahoo
groups as a way of advertising their site. However, there is a big
difference between being banned for life when you know you have a choice of
going special mail or no mail and being nasty to people. Some groups will
not let you go special notice or no mail. I will never sew out or buy
anything from that individual.

this is really unfair to the digitizers who work so hard to bring
these free designs to all their potential customers.

For the record....Lydia C. just unsubed from a group I own....and did not tell me she was leaving nor did she tell me why! She did however take the few designs from the site. Did she delete them? She can say she did, but will anyone really know? I don't sell my designs, I'm only a beginner, but one designer donated a design to the group and does have a site with designs for sale. Seems when I said no new designs would be posted, she didn't stay much longer...4 days.

Sherrie,
For what it's worth, I do read their blurbs and I do take time to look at
their sites. I do not grab every free design offered. I am not missing a
thing. There are other places to spend my money.

The only group I've resigned from recently was the angel group. I did write
to one of the moderators as to why I was leaving. If there is another group
I unsubed from I would like to know which one as I didn't.

Instead of going no mail just do a block sender and then you do not get all the mail sent out by the group and can go read all the messages on the group at your leisure.
As far as the free designs on the group they were put there to give away. If not then don't put them there. Digitizers are always talking about how hard they work. When someone can pump out 30 designs a week that is there choice. The free designs are a lost leader just like buying a can of soup on sale in the grocery store.
There are many many free designs on my group and if someone wants to leave that is their loss not mine.
My group is very successful and I run it for the members as well as myself.
