Most freebies are in PES format. PES is the most popular format and I am sure someone can convert it for those that can't do it. I still think that Charlottes idea of sending the freebie as an attachment would solve everything. There would be no download problems, no "where's the files" problem, everyone would get the freebie emailed to them. Miems wouldn't have crap loads of email to forward and the list would only be cluttered by "thank yous". As far as file size. The zip was around 450kb one single format was 42kb give or take a few kb's. Any way if she chose to continue the download in the files section that would mean that ten times more people would get the files before it craps out. It would mean that ten times more people could access them at once and would solve a lot of the congestion problems. I still hold by Charlottes idea of sending them as an attachment.

Nancy,
Forgot about the "ART" format - What if that and PES is uploaded? Can't forget those that use this format. That would be bummer huh? Don't know what to say - just trying to help....going to my corner now...sigh

Rather new to the list, have appreciated all of the freebies, (didn't have a problem downloading, although did have to return a couple of times for the coaster when the line was overloaded, and have stitched it out, added a monogram to the center & think they will make beautiful coasters for a formal dinner party. Thanks! )
As to how to send the designs, I think some forget that everyone cannot receive attachments, and some computers for security reasons, have been set to not accept attachments.
The learning process is often quite slow for newbies to computers, lists, and downloads, if we have patience & willingly offer help to the individuals, who are having problems, the process will smooth out. (I personally deal with a husband who has no patience with the computer & is constantly complaining because it "doesn't work", and would change systems every other day, if I'd let him. ....he had a secretary for 37 years & never learned to deal with the small daily frustrations, & guess who his secretary is now! & I do get impatient when he ask me the same questions over & over again, like "how do I get the file off that black thing?"
I've always felt that the lists were a great place for learning & sharing the knowledge of our new addiction! I"m happy to be a member of this group. Thanks miems!

Yes that was my thought too that many people have their accounts to not accept attachment. My thought were that I would bet that is a very small % and Miems would want to upload the freebies to the files anyway for those joining in the future. I also think that was very nice of Barbra to host the designs on her site. I thought about this myself but my bandwidth is limited. We still have the problem of those that do not read the download instructions and post where the designs are. I still stand by Charlottes idea of sending the freebie as an attachment. It makes the most sense to me.

I don't see the "thank yous" as clutter Venus, I see it as good manners.
I think that the present way that Miems is doing is now working very
well. A very special thank you to all those who have helped! However I
do believe that an attachment would work fine for most, but then you
will run into someone not having Winzip or other unzip applications. I
definitely disagree or picking one particular format.

I did not mean the thank you's were a bad thing but could be done in private.
