AD: New Unicorn Appliqu¨¦ & Free Design
Mary Lou - Mary Lou in Stitches
Well it's late - But I finished There are 7 of the cutest Unicorn Appliqu¨¦ Designs - I finally met a deadline I set for myself.. That's a great accomplishment -
They are so cute and the stitch patterns used makes the Manes and Tails look more like realistic hair and not just a fill with an overlay Relitively easy to stitch... And I even made myself 2 for work shirts... Also, there is a cut little cross stitched heart for free! While all of the Unicorns have a little heart stamped on their behind, a couple have a little cross stitched heart - Sweet! Enjoy I hope you like them.. Go to: - and find out... What's New at Mary Lou's! Thank You: Mary Lou Check out - "What's New" at Mary Lou's Please visit our New Yahoo group [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Have you thought of emailing some digitizers and website owners with your request? They might recognize it as one of theirs, but have since retired it off the site (and perhaps still sell it to you).

Re: Things the Bug me... (For: Caroline)
Thanks, Charlotte, for your perspective on the quilt situation. My
niece decided, (after regaining her voice) that what you present as a gift is indeed a gift to that person, to do with as they please. And you are right, the person had the courtesy to call her. I was proud of Nancy for keeping her head about it, even though she was hurt. However, when the lady arrived at the funeral home intending to put the quilt in the coffin, her own sisters prevented her from doing so. Two of them were quilters, and knew the value of the quilt in question. They found another alternative coverlet. Sorry for this rather grim topic, but it does illustrate a life lesson. What you give away, you give away. Another example: my sister-in-law made a kingsize white "whole cloth" quilt, entirely handstitched for her son's 25th anniversary. She worked on it three years. That summer, she saw it being used on the beach as a beach blanket, with kids and dogs running over it. Again, nothing was said. A gift is a gift. This could mean that the next quilt for them will be a tied quilt, LOL. Hugs, Caroline |

Before Christmas, I saw a great quilt using some great Santa designs,
from www.3bellsembroidery.com so I ordered them. Today I started stitching them out and had a slight problem with the final outline stitch on two of them. I decided to contact the digitizer, Elizabeth, to see if it was me or something in the .jef format, and she was wonderful. She tweaked the outline and I now have great Santas with perfect outlining. Take a few minutes and look through her designs-- they stitch out beautifully, and the customer service is super! |

Re: Long Creek Mills Order
Ms Tempest
I also received an incorrect order from Long Creek Mills. I order a gross
of white Nebs bobbins and 2 dozen black Nebs bobbins. They don't sell black bobbins by the gross, only white. Colored thread bobbins are more expensive, too. What I received was all black bobbins, including the gross. For about 5 minutes I was upset. Then I realized that their error was in my favor. I stopped fussing and reordered a gross of white bobbins again. Maybe they will send me more colored bobbins at the price of white :-) I won't mind! LCM is about 3 and 1/2 hours from my home...too far to drive to with the price of gas these days. Even though I have to pay shipping and NC tax, LCM still have great prices. my 2 cents, Anita in NC -- In this life we cannot do great things. Caroline and all. Your story has triggered one of my own. I made my sister-in-law's mom a mother/grandmother's blanket with a figure in each corner with her children's names and then their children's names and figures around them (her grandkids). During her illness she cherished that blanket, took it to the hospital, always had it in her wheelchair, chastised family members if they forgot to bring it with her and she thanked me all the time for it. When she passed away, my sister in law walked me to the coffin and showed me that the blanket was in there with her mom, that the family believed she would have wanted to be buried with it (and it would eliminate the fight over who would get such a piece of memorabilia), and she said she hoped it was OK with me. I had been "fine" up until then with all the grieving, etc., but that pushed me way over the edge. I told them I would consider it an honor and bawled all the way back to my seat.
Just another way to look at the "use" of a labor of love! Huggers, Wisc Nan |

Thanks for your words of support Deb. A long-lost friend contacted me after she read my post so that was wonderful.
I enjoy many things. I am really looking forward to building a new house this year and finally having a large sewing room with lots of work space, natural light and storage. All things going well, we'll be in before the end of the year. Susan. |

I just don't want people to get carried away I guess as emails are difficult to understand/express feelings. Here's my what I really like: The number of people who are helping me look for the sleigh with the word "sleigh" on the runners! It is to be found on an obscure or old website somewhere in the world. I have had so very many who have offered assistance that it is really gratifying. One person will either find it in their collection or on a site and this long standing mystery will be solved. Thank you to all those who are helping! Hugs, Sherrie @( 0 )@ ----- Original Message ----

IMHO, venting like this now and then is very healthy. As long as no one is nasty about it, and keeps it fairly light, discussing "pet peeves" can be quite a good outlet for what bugs you, and also give some people a new way of seeing some things. Though a companion thread of "what I really like" would be nice as well, of course. Re: auto digitising YUK!!!
Glenn Harris Designs
G'day
I joined a yahoo group recently, and got a embroidery file as a gift, which i then looked at and realised it was auto digitised. I personally find designs like this amazing, as people out there, can at the press of a couple of switches, make one of these, then go out and try and sell it. I think this alone is doing a lot of damage to the industry. What gets me though is these people will go out of the way to insist they dont do auto digitising, I am extremely proud of each design i do, but others seem to distance themselves from the rubbish they sell. Best wishes Glenn... Glenn Harris Embroidery Designer |

Those designs definitely still belong to the owner unless permission is given in writing.
That's the law. What is important for the digitiser is that they keep their design process on file and not keep overwriting it. That is their proof of ownership. Each digitiser has their own style just as any artist does. Hugs, Sherrie @( 0 )@ G'day I find it amazing, that some digitisers do not put any copyright info on some of the designs they give away, or in some cases, some they sell. Does this then mean, that those designs are not copyrighted in any way, and can be shared around? Education for people about copyright is very important, but perhaps we need to teach digitisers, to cover themselves properly. Best wishes Glenn... Glenn Harris Embroidery Designer Check for a read it file with the design. Sometimes there is a file that tells the name of the digitizer and where they can be found. Not always, but many times there is. It looks like a little spiral note pad.
