Judy, start on easy things--pillowcases, dish towels, doll clothes, children's clothes, things where it is not vital to be perfect at first (I mean, you dry dishes on a towel that the lettering is not straight and the dishes get just as dry!! And children and dolls are remarkably uncritical when you do something just for them!!) Then as you get more confident, move on to bigger things--napkins, table runners, that kind of stuff. Learn that you can embroider over a bad embroidery with a larger one to cover up a mistake or a defect. Play, have fun, and learn. Do test sewouts on plain solid fabrics squares large enough to make into a lap quilt or baby quilt. But as I said before, have fun!

Did several towels at Christmas. Hooped Hydro-stick and dampen, position the
towel, lay tulle (white for light colors & black for dark colors) over the towel, pin with straight pins the tulle as close to the four edges of the hoop as you can get. I pinned through the tulle, towel, and Hydro-stick. You can add the wash away if you want just before pinning. It has been my experience in the past that when the wash away is removed the loops of the towel will still work up through the embroidery. With the tulle it helps to prevent that. Before starting to embroidery go to layout and do a trial to be sure none of the four straight pins will be caught during the embroidery. When the embroidery was done I trimmed away the excess tulle. Did not trim out between letters or small spots in the design. Every one was very happy with their towels. Have fun Janet Threads of Time www.oregonpatchworks.com |

Not Authorized: means the group as exceeded the download limit. Can not display: Means too many people are downloading at once. You can email Miems in private and she will forward your email to a helper that will send you the files or wait a day and try it again. The files will always be there so you have plenty of time.
