This is a Wonderfull Group!!!!!
Tammy Nicolas
Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to say. When I first got my embroidery machine last week I was told by one of the ladies in a quilting group to not join to many groups since it might be too much at one time so I decided to Join 1 group"This group" Well I would just like to say you are all just wonderfull and so helpfull.... I want to thank you all for the great responses to my angel request. Especially Susan and Louise..... I know my friend will cherish these gifts that I make for her with these designs and I will let my quilting group know who sent them to me so they can go check out your sites too..... I hope that she thinks about all of us that are praying for her when she sees the beautiful angels you have all sent for her....Thank you so much.... I am glad to be a part of this group....... She did however take the few designs from the site. Did she delete them? She can say she did, but will anyone really know? I don't sell my designs, I'm only a beginner, but one designer donated a design to the group and does have a site with designs for sale. Seems when I said no new designs would be posted, she didn't stay much longer...4 days. ----- Original Message ----- From: "capri _xau" <capri_xau@...> To: <HookedOnEmbroidery@...> Sent: Saturday, January 20, 2007 7:16 AM Subject: [HookedOnEmbroidery] In re topic Unsubbing and being banned NEW MEMBERS PLEASE READ > Hi Lydia, > > A group owner has the right to run their group any way they feel fit. > They are not here for your convenience, you are here for theirs and most > put in > a lot of long hours to read every mailing that comes in when it is a > moderated group. > I'm not an owner of any group, nor do I sell any designs but I've been > around for a long time now and I've seen what goes on. > Maybe the lesson here is that ALL NEW MEMBERS should read the > information that is sent out to them when they join and not just ASSUME > that they know everything. Re: Things the Bug me...
Vicki Backman
Karol,
I wonder if you are right. because the Next night, I brought almost the identical quilt to my other brother-in-laws house (I made 2 at one time) and his wife grabbed it from my hands and for the next hour was arguing with her younger brother who got to wrap in itwhile they were watching TV. Valentine Gift Box and Celtic Vest for 18-in Dolls
Advanced Embroidery
This week, we've decided to feature our Fairies and Gnomes section. The designs from this section make excellent whimsical decorations for linen and clothing. They are now available at a 10% discount.
We've begun preparing for Valentine's day, with the FSL Rose Gift Box and the Valentine Doves Applique. The FSL Rose Gift Box is a heart-shaped box that can be used for all kind of presents. The Valentine Doves Applique features two doves overlaid on a heart. They're great for decorating clothing or table linen, but we used them to make some beautiful Valentine Greeting Cards. To our growing collection of clothing for dolls, we've added the FSL Celtic Vest for 18-inch dolls. This vest is made to match the Pants that we added last week. For fans of Fine Art, we've added two designs: the American Gothic by Grant Wood and Imperial Crown Fritillaria by Vincent Van Gogh. If you are a fan of either of these famous painters, we advise you to take a look. You can find a complete list of New Designs on our webpage. Be sure to check out our Projects section, where we've added a project explaining how you can use some of our designs to make a set of wonderful Valentine greeting cards. Happy Embroidering! -- Olga Advanced Embroidery Designs |

ARC Thread
Dixie West
I found a way to store the ARC thread if anyone is interested. I
found a Rubbermaid Handi-Box (14x10.5x4) that works perfectly for this thread, in the area of wastecans and storage boxes at WalMart for $3.97 each. I purchased 12 of them and had 3 left over so holding 28 spools each it only took 9, with some room left in a couple of them. They are clear so you can still see the colors, they will be dust free and they stack nicely. Just wanted to share. Dixie in TX |
Re: A gift is a gift
jabugladybug
Lynn, It's hard to understand what people are thinking sometimes. I
do a lot of projects for my grandchildren too, and like you, my hope is that they will one (as adults) day pull them out from storage and smile; knowing that the gift was made, with love, from mamaw. And besides the time and love element that goes into making the gifts, there is also, for me at least, a personal connection to the project. To me, creating a beautiful keepsake is kind of like raising a child. In the beginning I have an idea, a hope, a dream of what I want the gift to be. The process of making the gift is often a journey filled with excitment, fear, anger, frustration, relief, and so much more. To complete a beautiful project gives me such a great feeling of accomplishment and pride. I get invested, and when it is time to give it away, it is sometimes hard. No one is going to appretiate or treat your child as well as it's mama! I am lucky, so far, as my family seems to treasure my gifts. But there is always that little wonder in the back of my mind...and gosh, it would just tear me up to see one of my "babies" in a yard sale! Happy sewing! Donna In HookedOnEmbroidery@..., lynn <lynncarol33@...> wrote: something pretty to keep forever. For the first grandson, I had quilted a small quilt for him of silhoutted cats in a window. It really came out nice and I was so happy to hand that quilt to my DIL. She seemed to like it and I thought it would be a family keepsake. About 5 years later, I was visiting them and their cat had a new litter of kitters. They brought out the box of kittens and......yep, you guessed it.....that quilt was used as bedding for the mother cat to have kittens on. My heart sunk, I'm sure that quilt was thrown out afterwards, but I bit my tongue and I never handed my DIL another quilt again. My DD saves things like that for her 5 children in what she calls "memory boxes". She saves all kinds of favorite clothes, toys, books, etc that the children outgrow. From time to time the grandchildren go through their memory boxes and enjoy looking at older loved items. They know that when they're grown up that the boxes go with them and it makes themhappy. I have no issues at all about giving my handmade items to my DD as she understands how much of my time and love go into making them. DIL is another story, but I'm sure I'm not the only one with this sort of thing going on. You just learn who you can trust to take care of your hand crafted items. I seldom keep the things I make, most of my joy in making them is to give them to someone who's face lights up and is so happy to have it. Happy stitching.....Lynn email and get things done faster. |
Large Job
chesapeakecharms
Here's an interesting question: I have a customer who would like to
have small flags embroidered all over a skirt. Just like the wide- whale cord pants that are so preppy. They wondered if I could do that and I thought.."not without pulling every hair out of my head I couldn't" but I thought I'd throw it to the group and perhaps locate someone who has that capability. Any ideas??? |

scripture verse quilt?
moldyoldies
I have given small wall hangings with favorite/encouraging scriptures to church friends (usually for someone terminally ill). It has blessed them in their last days and I would not feel offended to see it in the coffin at the funeral. That might work better. I would think the family would want to keep the quilt as an heirloom/remembrance...JMHO...Grammy
