Re: 6 needle machines

Carol Harhai

Pam and Mary,
I didn't buy my Brother machines from my "local" dealer because he charges top buck for everything in his store. He started the I don't have to service it because you didn't buy it here speech - so I started the I will be back after I call the Attorney General's office (of my state) every Senator and every Rep. We worked out a comprimise but I'm probably getting ripped off - How can I comparison shop? Brother is horrible with this.

Applique on sweatshirts

kayladog80003

I hope somebody can help me with this. I received some machine
applique designs for Christmas and would like to put them on a couple
of sweatshirts. I've never hooped a sweatshirt, always have just used
spray adhesive to hold it onto the stabilizer. Because with applique
you have to remove the hoope and cut how do you do that with a
sweatshirt? Please help.

Thanks, Gayle

Hope this helps!

I hate to be such a dummy but in the deco 340, it has articles to
choose from to work with. Just my luck, the preinstalled patterns have
nothing I want except t shirt. Can anyone tell me, how do you addto
articles? I have tried and tried and failed. I got 1 skirt downloaded
and (oh yes, I forgot to tell you, I got explorations classic) I can
not get the skirt into explorations. Thanks, Carol

Re: Recent - Wal-Mart Newz

They must have made that decision after planning the new Super Walmart in The Villages FL. The store has notions but NO Fabric. That doesn't make sense to me. There is a department called Celebration which consist of party supplies. Boy I buy a lot of those supplies. I can't tell you how many different clubs we have that use fabric of some kind.
I'll bet they didn't do away with their baseball and golf merchandise two other big sports in The Villages. Well I for one will not buy any party supplies from Walmart. Kathy

Re: Recent - Wal-Mart Newz

Here's the official news from Wall Street Journal:

WAL-MART AIMS TO FURTHER TAILOR STORES TO LOCALES
By Kris Hudson
January 23, 2007; Page A2
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., in an ongoing effort to tailor its merchandise
to the taste of each store's clientele, this year will stop selling
cut fabric in some of its stores in favor of offering crafts and
party-planning supplies.
Most of the new stores Wal-Mart opens this year and those it remodels
will forgo fabrics to instead feature craft-and-celebration centers
offering merchandise for "crafts and party-planning needs along with
information on current trends and new ideas in the area of life's
celebrations," such as weddings and birthdays, Wal-Mart spokeswoman
Tara Raddohl said.
Wal-Mart intends to open as many as 280 U.S. supercenters and
discount stores this year and remodel several hundred more. The
switch also will affect a "small number" of Wal-Mart's existing
stores, but Ms. Raddohl declined to quantify the amount.
Wal-Mart's fabric departments, which offer bolts of cloth that are
cut to order by store employees, harken back to the Bentonville,
Ark., retailer's roots serving primarily rural shoppers with tight
budgets. But Wal-Mart now operates roughly 4,000 U.S. stores, with
most of its new stores opening in urban and suburban locales.
In a bid to squeeze more sales out of those stores, Wal-Mart is
culling slow-selling departments from some in favor of merchandise
that might better entice more affluent shoppers or better resonate
with local tastes. Last year, Wal-Mart discontinued firearm sales at
roughly 1,000 stores due to insufficient demand. This year, it
intends to pare the number of stores at which it offers live fish in
its pet departments, though the retailer declines to divulge a number
of stores slated for the change.
Bill Dreher, a Deutsche Bank Securities analyst, said Wal-Mart likely
is moving away from fabrics because the department doesn't lure
significant traffic into its stores and doesn't yield the same
margins as other merchandise. Also, cut fabric and pet fish require
employees to retrieve the merchandise for customers. "The fabric
department takes up a lot of space in the stores," Mr. Dreher
said. "Making your own clothes is a dying skill. And when Wal-Mart
rolled these stores out 40 years ago, it made a lot of sense. But now
people might [instead] decorate around the house."
Wal-Mart declined to divulge its annual sales in fabrics. The
department is part of its soft-goods and apparel business, which
accounted for 15% of its $312.4 billion in sales in 2005, the most
recent year it has reported. The department faces challenges,
including liquidating trendy apparel from an overly aggressive
fashion program and weathering remodelings of apparel and home-decor
sections in several hundred stores

Re: PED Basic

If I have designs on my card I can read what is on it. This comes in handy if I forget and don't want to erase something. I just go to the select file button like I am going to transfer, and all the way at the top of the list is the card to click on. It reads it and shows me what is there.

Hi Kim,
I don't know offhand where to find a Raggedy Ann design but you might
try going to search4designs.com and join for free. You get unlimited
searches for a whole week before you are limited to 3 searches a day.
If you join for $14.95, you get unlimited searches from now on.
Anyway, go to the search engine on site, type in Raggedy Ann and it
will show all the websites that have free designs to download plus
the designs they sell. These sites also have links for more free
designs plus what they sell. Hope this helps. Carol

Thank you for your help in this.

It is my understanding that the fabric won't totally be removed, but will be pre packaged like in 3 yard increments. It appears they are trying to cut out the ladies that do the fabric cutting. Some of the bigger stores here in Phoenix will go fast, but the little store we go to on 59 and Bill is going to be rebuilding so they will be one of the last hold outs until the store is redone. It is very sad to see them to away with fabric Not understanding!!!!
