Re: Exhibition photos

What a wonderful library of Australian model railroading.

Thank you, David Bromage for all your effort in putting this site together to inspire the rest of us.

I came away from my first look at some small layout exhibition photos with the distinct feeling that even for that kind of display a well designed small backdrop makes a wonderful frame that greatly intensifies the image of even the simplest layout. Ed Weldon (California USA)

Larry,

You are probably referring to the Narrow Gauge Exhibition Hall which had about 100 small layouts featured.

That website is gone and has been gone for a couple of years.

I don't know who had it so I can't provide more information.

However, if you search Google for:

narrow gauge exhibition

you will find lots of photos and articles and may stumble across some of the old material.

Here is the updated link:

He is currently posting videos on Youtube of the same photos.

If you subscribe you will get new ones as he adds them.

Mario had a heart attack last week and may not be adding much to his website at this time.

But he is an energetic guy who may push hard to do so.

Preview: Central Coast RR Festival - N Scale Layout (Calif.)

Anthony Harris built this N scale layout, which is four feet by seven feet with about seventy-five feet of track. He is modeling the rolling hills of Central California and running modern equipment. The track plan is a continuous loop in a fairly complex design, typically with one train in operation at a time. There is a lot of hidden track, a grade for the cross-over, tunnels, retaining walls, a lake with boats and two bridges.

The layout is fully sceniced with abundant vegetation. This layout efficiently packs a lot of running into a small space.

Here is a video link:

Anthony also will display a? 3 foot x 5 foot Z scale layout. This has two operational tracks, four bridges and lots of interesting elevation changes. There is no scenery as yet.

Photos of this N scale layout are below.

Who among you operates Dead Rail equipment on your home layout, either exclusively or in conjunction with DC or DCC powered equipment?

If there are enough examples of Dead Rail railroads in Southern California I would like to organize a layout tour for early 2020. While garden railroads are welcome to participate I'm really interested in showcasing Dead Rail in O and smaller scales for those who might want to see this in person and ask questions.

Let me know if you are interested in participating.

P.S. I've organized sixty layout tours (800-plus railroads) over the years and have a large list of persons who enjoy seeing layouts, so if you go to the effort of participating you will get visitors.

Re: Seeking info for Mantua General 4-4-0 locomotive drive link/shaft

The one I had in storage was a Mantua model 307-44, "The General" W&ARR with wood in the tender.? It has a shaft that has knuckles on the ends that fits in the round plastic piece from the tender and engine.
According to my inventory program, I should have 1 more somewhere.? the problem is, it's somewhere among over 3000 pieces in storage so it may take me another day or so to see if it's different than the rest.

Hope this helps!

I think I have a couple of these (Mantua and/or Tyco) in my collection... I have to hit the storage to see, but my inventory program says I have 2 "in the box" so they should have all the parts.? I might be able to take a picture of the piece to help in locating a replacement, if that would help.. or maybe get really lucky and have a IPB in one of the boxes.

Unfortunately, that means a day or two for me to hit the storage and dig them out but..? I'll let you know what I find.

Re: Mantua - 4 Pack of Replica HO Drive Shafts for The Mantua/TYCO General 4-4-0

Yea, these are the ones that are also on the Jupiter engines I have.? They slide into what looks like a round piece of plastic that comes out of the tender (where the motor is located) and into the engine that drives the wheels to move the engine.
