[Ranger 33 Yacht Club] Ranger 33 versus Ericson 35 Mk;2
5
I have owned a Ranger 33 for over 20 years and is a great sailing boat, very easy to single handle. However, The Erickson is also a good boat and sails well. I race against one often. Assuming both boats are in equal condition, I would chose the Erickson only because it is much roomier. Good luck. Dave Sent: Thursday, April 11, 2013 12:38 AM To: ranger33yachtclub@... Subject: [Ranger 33 Yacht Club] Ranger 33 versus Ericson 35 Mk;2 Hi everyone I live in Tasmania Australia and it is home to some of the most beautiful cruising waters in the country. I am a merchant deck officer and have had this last 5 weeks at sea to research on the Internet boats for sale. i have looked at literally hundreds of boats. It has now come down to two. The Ranger 33 and the Ericson 35 Both boats are in excellent condition both exactly the same price. I go to inspect the Ranger Saturday in Brisbane and the Ericson in Newcastle on Sunday. I am leaning towards the Ericson as its about 5 " Beamer and I like the lay out below and from what I gather a fast and well balanced and sea kindly boat. The Ranger I am just not sure about. Though She looks lovely and Garry Mull new how to design a sexy and sleek boat and the R33 certainly looks that I think she could be wet and may be hard work to sail? There is more gear on the Ranger. Electric winches, pilot, new rigging, good electronics and nav gear. But the Ericson has electric anchor winch ( oh so does the Ranger) anyway I have been on the Ericson web page and owners of the E35 do love their boats. This said a lot. If there is anyone who can add some comments good or bad relating to the Ranger 33 within the next day or so it might help me make up my mind. I am hoping that when I step aboard and go for a sail it will become obvious. But may be not. I could be in love with two boats and can't choose. That would not be good. Thanks Nick [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Also, for all, and new member, also check out the other sailing group, http://www.sailnet.com/forums/cmps_index.php They have a lot of good discussion forums. John

[Ranger 33 Yacht Club] Traveler location
3
Hi, Carl, The forward traveler was an option of Ranger 33's. It works great for us. I think the forward travelers had larger booms installed to handle the larger forces. The traveler itself is a 4:1, I think. Pictures here: http://www.members.dca.net/pwink/ranger/ranger.htm Phil

Traveler location
I've got a 71 Ranger 33 and I'm redoing all of the rigging. When I got the boat the traveler was off. I've noticed other Rangers have their traveler mounted on a bridge over the cabin top. I'm thinking of doing the same but would like some feedback on how that has been working for you. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Carl "Bamboleiro"

[Ranger 33 Yacht Club] can we re-focus this group to SAILING ?
John Since I usually go to sailnet for a4 and ranger 33 experience, it may be a waste of your time ... but this is my 2 cents. So when can I pick up the Atomic 4? Can we re-focus this group to discussions about sailing and Ranger 33s? I am willing to take over the management of this group, but am not sure how to do this. If I take over, I will work to reduce (eliliminate ?) the postings that are inappropriate (dating, etc). Help me out ! Are there people seeing this that have an actual interest in sailing? If so, either post to this group, or send me an email to: johnfcooper11 AT comcast.net Thanks ! John By the way, I have a 1974 Ranger 33, and just put in a diesel replacement for the Atomic 4.

this group is for SAILING, SAILORs and SAILBOATS of the R33 flavor...
Hard to believe, but this is not the place for loans, romance, MBAs, etc, i.e., spammers. ALL SAILORS, whether of R33 ownership or otherwise, Please help keep these spammers out. I put a new Beta Marine diesel in my R33 (removing Atomic 4). Anyone done this? John

Ranger 33
2
Hi all - I am seriously considering a Ranger 33 (1976) and would love to hear from others who sail this boat. I will be surfing this site and any others with Ranger information as much as I can. I have the Practical Sailing and Sail reviews as well. Any info is appreciated. It does have the original Atomic and overall has been very well kept up. The sail area seems large for a 33 - any problems? Thanks in advance, Dave
