Lake Solano

Went to Lake Solano Park on Monday and saw several birds not seen for the past few months.? There were a lot of yellow birds but the vast majority turned out to be Western Tanager females or juveniles.? It is a little harder id'ing birds when they are molting or there are a lot of juveniles.? But here are some pictures.

Very nice pictures and such a variety. Next best thing to actually being there. Never heard of Lake Solano Park. Looks like it is worth a visit.

?Great photos, Subhash! I can¡¯t believe you saw all those birds in one place and in one day! A few of them I¡¯ve never even heard of (the Phainopepla and the Western Wood Pewee) and they are just beautiful. Once again you¡¯ve pointed out another great place to see a wide variety of birds. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, it is great place for birding.? It is easy to see 30-40 species of birds there in one day.? I learned about it through Sacramento Audubon.? If you want other good birding locations, check out:
