Gremlin attacked truck
Somewhere along the way yesterday a gremlin got into my truck and caused me some problems. The truck was running fine and I stopped at Costco to get some of their $2.199/gal gasoline. Of course I turned the truck off when I got out to fill the tank as is the proper way to do those things. I filled the tank, grabbed my receipt and hopped back into the truck, slid the key in and turned it to start the truck. Well, that was when the gremlin got feisty and the truck would not start. After many tries, I called the roadside assistance folks. Since the truck was blocking the pump, the attendant rounded up some help and five guys managed to push the truck out of the line and into the adjacent parking lot. I had definitely forgotten how hard it is to steer a vehicle that heavy with no power steering. I had just enough power to get the windows down so I didn't cook inside the truck. After only a little over an hour, the roadside assistance fellow showed up, hooked up his little gizmo and I turned the key. The truck fired right up, running smooth as silk. I drove the long way over to O'Reilly's and had them to check the battery and alternator and both checked out as good so I didn't have to buy a new battery or alternator. I drove the truck home with two stops along the way and had no trouble starting the truck either time. I have driven it to several places today with no trouble and it started on the first try each time. I guess the gremlin got tired of sitting in that hot truck yesterday afternoon and bailed out somewhere along the way and that is fine with me. I didn't invite him to come along in the first place and it won't hurt my feelers if he never rides with me again. I have been watching the gauge and everything is showing just the way it should. All the wires and cables are tight so at this time, I have no idea, other than that damn gremlin, what caused the problem. John T. Herman 210-396-1974 Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. John, that's happened to me before except what my car needed was my husband's "magic touch". Anything that doesn't work for me automatically works as soon as he touches it! On Tue, Apr 13, 2021, 4:57 PM Susan Floyd via <Sukie27=[email protected]> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýA thousand years ago, I had a Toyota that would fail to start that way, and it turned out to be vapor lock after the engine had been running a while--an hour or more. Only cure was to let it rest a while. In your case, it would be nice to know just what the roadside assistance guy did. I don't know how to describe "vapor lock", but maybe you can find somebody who does. No idea if that's your problem, of course, but it's another angle to look at. --don bolding On 4/13/2021 2:51 PM, John T. Herman
