Accessory connector on back of TK8302 10
A buddy and I are trying to configure a Kenwood TK8302 to work as a link radio from the RC 210 repeater controller. Bought a cable from Ken, but that doesn't work so does anyone have pinouts for the accessory port on the back of the TK8302 so we know what pins go to what? Isolated Tee 10
One thing I'd like to have in my supply box is an iso-tee. Today while searching I came across this repeater builder post below. Then I found another site that sounds like the same thing but with pictures. The pictures helped me visualize it nicely. Are these good plans for one or should I keep looking around for a commercially made one on the used market? If so is there one recommended? On ebay I'm seeing a lot of sma connecter ones. I'd prefer N connectors if possible. Wanting it for repeater stuff. To test for desense & receiver sensitivity etc. https://repeater-builder.com/projects/iso-tee-project.html https://urgentcomm.com/tower-site/every-toolbox-needs-one-of-these

Explorer QRZ-1 Radio 15
Hello Group, I am writing to find out what I can about the "QRZ New Ham Jumpstart Program" "Explorer QRZ-1" radio. Wanting to find out what experience some of you have had with this radio. One of the main things to find out is what the deviation is like. Does it suffer from the low deviation like the boothingys do? I don't need or want any of those on my system. The local group has been very good about using good radios. I have three people who just got their license issued this week. So of course they are looking for new radios. Trying to help them get started with a good starter radio while looking for something better. Anyone run up any of these to see how they do??? Mick - W7CAT -- Untitled Document

what is the consequence of reducing insertion loss on sinclair c2037 mutlicouplers 3
I have 2- c2037 multicouplers and I see in the manuals that the insertion loss can be adjusted. what is the consequence of reducing insertion loss from 3db to something lower. Has anyone attempted this? https://www.repeater-builder.com/antenna/sinclair/fp-fr-fq-series-tuning.pdf thanks Tom

Colorado Repeater Fails After??30 Years 9
Colorado Repeater Fails After 30 Years My repeater controller, Connect Systems, Private Patch V, Has failed. It was installed in 1995 and has been on 24/7 since then. The failure was loss of touch tone control and was traced to U7. U7 is a touch tone decoder IC, 75T2089IP, 22 pin DIP. It was replaced and the controller is operational again. The Radio functions of the repeater never failed. Pretty good MTBF, 263,000 Hours. The MTTR Maintainability was excellent, This 22 pin DIP is in a socket ! 3 minutes to find the bad part and 3 minutes to replace it. No further analysis was performed, yet. There was a function error about 15 years ago, I had to reprogram one line in the EEPROM. Probably a cosmic ray upset, Not a hard failure. We get more cosmic rays in Colorado than at sea level, https://emerginginvestigators.org/articles/20-190 Paul w0rw

Grounding rods 15
Been trying all day to get a 8ft grounding rod all the way down. I have 6ft in the ground. It doesn't seem to want to go deeper. I feel I've hit rock. The ground here is very rocky & mixed with red (iron rich) clay. The tower is next to the house. Its embedded in a 5ft deep concrete base. There was about 10/12ft of topsoil/earth moved to level the spot for the house. So the lack of original top soil means I'm hitting lots of rock fairly soon. This area used to be mined for iron ore. So that's why I know the ground is rich with iron deposits in that red clay. Heck my drinking water is spring fed & it's rich with iron too. So here's what I was wondering given the circumstances & type of soil for the area. Can I just get another grounding rod & drive on the other side of the tower. It will hopefully go 6ft in as well. Deeper would be nice. Then tie the two rods together with sold conductor ground wire at the copper bus bar I'm mounting on the tower. Would that be good? I'm using a "maximum effort" ?? fence post driver & sledge hammer. Also I'm noticing the hole gets bigger than the grounding rod from all the labor of driving it in. I've got some pure copper powder. Would it be wise to pour some down that hole to help fill gaps & ensure good connection?

MSR2000 Continuous Duty PA power control problem
I inherited a highband MSR2000 that was partially stripped. The continuous duty TLD2602A PA was still in it and beckoned for me to do something with it just as a need came along. I benched the PA and have a keying switch temporarily connected to the appropriate pin. With a few hundred mW drive it pegs a 100W Bird meter. I'm still looking for a 250W slug) I am reading around 23Amps on the 13.8Vdc applied. Adjusting the power set pot makes no change at all in output. I am not experienced with this model, in days past Skipp was so generous when he sent me a driver transistor (an odd PNP device as I recall) and I got the exciter crystalled up and working but its not currently installed (the control chassis is incomplete). I poured over the Motorola drawings and see the power control board TLD5960A is under a metal shield, and it uses a pre-historic silicon opamp type M2002. I hope that's not bad. I'd really like to find a known good power control board to substitute. I see this thing needs 9.3Vdc so I made a 3 terminal regular set for 9.3V that I connected to the red/white wire going to the 4-pin feedthru on the PA but it doesn't seem to be the solution and the power out is still way too much to put this into service. I wonder if anyone has had this kind of problem? I'm still on a steep learning curve with this MSR. Am I missing something? Reid W6MTF

Mastr II 800MHz PA 4
Hi all, Does anyone have any documentation on the Mastr II 800MHz PA's, or any Mastr II PA's at all? Follow up...has anyone ever modified one to 900MHz? Since all capacitors inside are fixed, there are not any adjustment points to slide it up. I have full power output on 860, and power drops significantly after 895. Just need to slide it up a little bit, but will need a schematic of it in order to figure out what new capacitors to stick inside. Thank you, Joe KC3LMP

Hi power VHF Micor stuff for FREE 4
I have available free for pickup three vhf Micor base stations. One of them has a 136-150mHz PA deck, that was working when last in service about ten years ago. There have been various parts robbed, but believe there is enough here that one complete repeater could be assembled. I believe there is a native 142-150mHz receiver as well. The collection comes with a set of NOS 8560 finals. Free for pickup in West Terre Haute, IN. You must take the entire lot. Contact me direct at k9hxATyahoo if interested. I do gave a few pictures, but the cabinets are against a wall, and are a little dirticult to move to get better shots. There are three loose HP power supplies, status unknown. Thanks and 73, Kevin, K9HX

DB-420 bottom half 470-490 MHz cut antenna project.
Hello RB members, I have a potential project that I thought I would list for those of you who like things like this. I have the bottom half of a Decibel DB-420 16-bay antenna array here that is cut for the 470-490MHz band according to the dipole loop sizes. They are a good 1.5-2" shorter than the 450-470MHz cut versions I have used in the past. The harness is in great shape and there is no damage to the hardware. Basically it is laid out like a DB-408 with the connector at the top of the harness to feed another DB-408 making up the full DB-420 16-bay array. I will ship it less the bottom half of the mast to anyone needing it or interested in a project for $150 + actual shipping to you. Maybe it can work on GMRS frequencies since they are quite broad banded, maybe the harness can be terminated at the mid-point connector and used as is, maybe someone can modify the harness and use it as is. Basically it is a project or for someone with a damaged bottom half of your DB-420 higher cut that needs the parts. I don't see many parts for these come up anywhere so I figured list for the RB group. Thanks for looking, Rick w6re

Decibel DB-404 antennas. 6
Selling several DB-404 antennas cut for the 460 MHz range. Perfect for a GMRS repeater or some such. In good usable shape, various ages. Will ship these WITH NO MAST in a compact box CONUS 48 @ $225 in a box each. Stuff is getting spendy new these days so save some coin. Use your own mast to save some money. These have factory harnesses with type N connectors and have been swept to make sure. I might even have a couple cut for the "T" band 470+ if someone needs one. I can text or email pictures as they are before they are taken off the masts for shipping and compare the loops. These have a higher SWR than I like on the ham UHF 440 band so I recommend them to use on GMRS instead. Thanks for reading! Rick w6re

Sinclair Duplexer Parts
Hello to all, Might someone in the group have a set of Sinclair Res-Lok mounting tabs/brackets for the Q3220E/Q4220E duplexers? Previous owner removed the brackets but thankfully left the screws intact. These are brushed aluminum- I do not want to make them. Thank you for your help, Alex

For Sale/Trade: (2) Kenwood TKR-840 UHF Repeaters
OK. Time to move these as we're trying to standardize our sites on two platforms, and these don't fit in. One is essentially new and unused and includes the accessory kit. Just tuned it up on a 449 pair, works fine. The other needs, er, decontamination. It lived at a site with a rodent problem. When removed from service it worked fine (upgraded to an integrated 110W station). Can test if there's interest. These are both the 450-470 version and both tuned into the amateur band without issue. A minor hex edit is required to the saved archive to get them in the ham band, but it's fully documented here on the list. I'll entertain trades for anyone that might have Midland 71-4xxx series Base Tech II equipment, or anything Palomar Telecom. Otherwise, please drop me an off-list email (my callsign at aol dot com) and make an offer on one, or preferably, both. The "used" unit was used with an RLC-4 for years and years without issue. PD526 Duplexer Tuning 46
I have an issue with tuning a duplexer. As you can see from the pictures the high pass looks good but the low pass has a double peak. I am having an issue trying to merge that double peak into one peak. Any suggestions? Do I have an issue with a high side can or do I just need to keep at it? Thanks Robert
