Sinclair 2037 multicouplers with 220 kHz spacing

I started a new thread for this as the most relevant was from 2010 I have a site with a couple of highband vhf repeaters as well as a ham machine on 145.210 -600. One of the highband repeaters is on a duplexer at the bottom of the string with the other highband repeater and the ham repeater(ve6aah) using 2037 multicouplers. My hope is to use another 2037 to allow APRS on 144.390 which is 220 kHz from the ham repeaters input. rx/tx would be nice but I would settle for a rx only if I had to. It has pretty good coverage already with an antenna on the roof of the building but the main antenna would be great. The 2037 tunes up nicely to 144.390 after changing to 24" inter-cavity cables, with 3.7 dB loss. While tuning, I did not adjust the coupling loops although did check the notch depth of each cans port with the other being unterminated, being ~10.5 dB. Thanks to the various posters from 04/21/10 who suggested that factor and much more. As its a mountaintop site, its pretty hard to test and tune in place but I do have a spare 2037 to emulate the repeaters input on the workbench. Thats getting cabled up now. Is what Im trying to do even possible? Excessive losses on the APRS is tolerable. Ross

Less than 1 year old Arcom RC210 Repeater Controller for sale. Rev 4.1 board. Has three TX/RX ports and logic input and output. Purchased pre-assembled from Arcom with rack mount case. Has DB9 type connectors on it (not the RJ45 ones). Works great, no issues. Includes pre built interface cable for Kenwood TKR-720 and TKR-820 repeaters, Arcom serial programming cable, and power cable. Does not include screws to hold top cover on rack mount. I have quite a few amps that were decommissioned recently and need a new home. These have a built in power supply so they are kind of a cool self contained unit. All have been tested and work well. These are tuned for 460MHz but I tested them at 445MHz. If you go through the effort or re-tuning them you will get slightly better output and lower current consumption. Typical output as follows. 10W In = 110W Out, 7W In = 95W Out, 5W In = 70W Out. Price including shipping to lower 48 is $450. Oh yes, the only thing that doesn't work is the Neon bulb indicating the unit is on. God knows why they used that versus an LED.

Vertex VXR-7000 power cycling after transmit

Hello all, Our club has a Vertex VXR-7000 VHF repeater that has recently developed a problem. Whenever it finishes transmitting, it always power cycles. This happens both in remote mode with two different controllers (Arcom RC-210 and RLC Club Deluxe II), as well as operating in local mode without a controller. I¡¯ve read where this might be an issue with the power supply. As of right now, we are running it off AC power. The thought crossed my mind of hooking it up to the big 70amp Astron up there with the Battery terminals on the Vertex and seeing if that cures the issue. Any ideas? Thanks, Stephen KG4PTO

Kenwood TK790 problems

Hey guys have a couple of Kenwood TK790's with the same problems. 1 is installed in a truck for several years , and the truck is driven by 1 foreman who is a trusted and valued foreman. The other was pulled froma truck we decommissioned. The removal was done by our company owner who is a fellow ham and has done several of the installs himself over the years. The problem is that there is no transmit audio. Both radios are remote mount, and the mics have been tested on known good radios and are working fine. I was told that the control heads have been swapped and the problem persists. I Have not as of yet done any testing on the radio that is installed, as the guy whose truck it is in wasnt available today. Does anyone have any ideas...... I personally am leaning toward a bad interconnect cable, but as these radio are a bit older I am trying NOT to just be a "parts changer" and buy new remote cables on a guess. Howard

Looking for RLN5933 in-dash bracket
I am looking for several RLN5933 in-dash brackets for the XPR4000 series radios to finish off a project. This is a bracket that fits into a single DIN dash opening in a standard vehicle. Accessory connector on back of TK8302

A buddy and I are trying to configure a Kenwood TK8302 to work as a link radio from the RC 210 repeater controller. Bought a cable from Ken, but that doesn't work so does anyone have pinouts for the accessory port on the back of the TK8302 so we know what pins go to what? Mastr II 800MHz PA

Hi all, Does anyone have any documentation on the Mastr II 800MHz PA's, or any Mastr II PA's at all? Follow up...has anyone ever modified one to 900MHz? Since all capacitors inside are fixed, there are not any adjustment points to slide it up. I have full power output on 860, and power drops significantly after 895. Just need to slide it up a little bit, but will need a schematic of it in order to figure out what new capacitors to stick inside. Thank you, Joe KC3LMP

Been trying all day to get a 8ft grounding rod all the way down. I have 6ft in the ground. It doesn't seem to want to go deeper. I feel I've hit rock. The ground here is very rocky & mixed with red (iron rich) clay. The tower is next to the house. Its embedded in a 5ft deep concrete base. There was about 10/12ft of topsoil/earth moved to level the spot for the house. So the lack of original top soil means I'm hitting lots of rock fairly soon. This area used to be mined for iron ore. So that's why I know the ground is rich with iron deposits in that red clay. Heck my drinking water is spring fed & it's rich with iron too. So here's what I was wondering given the circumstances & type of soil for the area. Can I just get another grounding rod & drive on the other side of the tower. It will hopefully go 6ft in as well. Deeper would be nice. Then tie the two rods together with sold conductor ground wire at the copper bus bar I'm mounting on the tower. Would that be good? I'm using a "maximum effort" ?? fence post driver & sledge hammer. Also I'm noticing the hole gets bigger than the grounding rod from all the labor of driving it in. I've got some pure copper powder. Would it be wise to pour some down that hole to help fill gaps & ensure good connection?

One thing I'd like to have in my supply box is an iso-tee. Today while searching I came across this repeater builder post below. Then I found another site that sounds like the same thing but with pictures. The pictures helped me visualize it nicely. Are these good plans for one or should I keep looking around for a commercially made one on the used market? If so is there one recommended? On ebay I'm seeing a lot of sma connecter ones. I'd prefer N connectors if possible. Wanting it for repeater stuff. Explorer QRZ-1 Radio

Hello Group, I am writing to find out what I can about the "QRZ New Ham Jumpstart Program" "Explorer QRZ-1" radio. Wanting to find out what experience some of you have had with this radio. One of the main things to find out is what the deviation is like. Does it suffer from the low deviation like the boothingys do? I don't need or want any of those on my system. The local group has been very good about using good radios. I have three people who just got their license issued this week. So of course they are looking for new radios. Colorado Repeater Fails After 30 Years My repeater controller, Connect Systems, Private Patch V, Has failed. It was installed in 1995 and has been on 24/7 since then. The failure was loss of touch tone control and was traced to U7. U7 is a touch tone decoder IC, 75T2089IP, 22 pin DIP. It was replaced and the controller is operational again. The Radio functions of the repeater never failed. Pretty good MTBF, 263,000 Hours. The MTTR Maintainability was excellent, This 22 pin DIP is in a socket ! 3 minutes to find the bad part and 3 minutes to replace it. No further analysis was performed, yet. There was a function error about 15 years ago, I had to reprogram one line in the EEPROM. Probably a cosmic ray upset, Not a hard failure.
