Motorola CDM Widekey 06.12.09???

I have a Motorola CDM 1250 that was last programmed with 6.12.09.. from what I’ve read is nothing past .6.12.05 will allow wide band without a key. Now Motorola no longer offers 25khz entitlements for this radio. What can I do??

Use 6.12.05. ?

It will work fine, even though the radio was programmed with 6.12.09. ?

I have tested this. ?

I hope that helps,

Will

Entitlements are for the programming computer and not the radio.? I just purchased a wide-band entitlement from Motorola about 45 days ago so they are still available.

06.12.08 also does WB

The release notes for CPS 6.12.08 disagree with this information. ?

Can anyone actually test these claims????

I and friends have a half-dozen CDMs in service of various model numbers and front-mount and remote-mount
configurations in service and my personal experience is limited - all of the ones I have and use are old enough
that 6.12.05 (or prior) was current when they were acquired, and I've never needed to use anything newer.
Hence I have not had a problem downloading or reprogramming any of them.?
?
A while back I received an email that informed me that keys were different between product lines, were no
longer available, and that he had to sell the radio and buy another. I did some checking with a couple of
locals and they verified that keys were different and not available.? I added all of that to a paragraph that
I put on the CDM page at repeater-builder:?

I was told that any later version locks you to the 12.5?KHz unless you have a "Professional Series" wideband
entitlement key – And the keys are different between MotoTurbo (DMR), Professional Series, and Commercial
Series (and as of late 2024 all of those keys are no longer available). An email to Repeater-Builder reported
that this "feature" bit the sender in the behind when he purchased a radio on eBay that was last programmed
with a newer version (R06.12.09 was the last version). He ended up reselling that radio on eBay and bought
another as he needed wideband and couldn't get a key, and the replacement CDM was happy with Release
6.12.05. I have been told that the only difference between Release 6.12.05 and the later releases is the forced
narrowband, the addition of a few newer model numbers into both the internal programming tables and into
the directory that contains the sample codeplug files (and those sample files can be copied from the newer
versions into your copy of Release 6.12.05). Unless you really need something in a later release (and you'd
better have an entitlement key) there is no need to go anything newer than Release 6.12.05. And always ask
the seller what the radio was last programmed with.

Now what is the truth?? Are entitlements available? ?
Can 6.12.05 overwrite a 6.12.08 or 6.12.09 codeplug???
Or is there a hacked copy of CPS "out there" that allows overwriting?

Can anyone answer these questions??? I'm sure that all of us would like to have *accurate* info
on repeater-builder.

And thank you to the person who posted the 6.12.08 Release Note.? I grabbed it and added it to
the page at repeater-builder today.

There is a hack to one of the files to make the .09 software wide band without the entitlement key. Personally I just use .08 ... I've taken radios that were narrowband and use the wide band software without a problem.. I just wouldn't go back too far.. The difference between .08 and .09 is the narrow band restriction but nothing else iirc
