Testing a WACOM WP-678-R2 with a Nanovna-F

Gentlemen,?
?
What is the "Proper" way to tune a 443mhz bpbr Wacom ??
S11 with a 50 ohm load at the antenna port? or S21? ?
I can "see"? ( and tune ) the notch on S11 , but the notch is symmetrical.
The capacitor doesn't seem to "band pass"? ?
( at least on S11 ).? ? ?the capacitor does affect the notch so it is in circuit.
Thanks in Advance?

Sometimes you can get this to work on Windows 10 but other than that the old radio software will not work on Windows 10 and definitely will not work on Windows 11 especially with all the damn security updates.?

The two blue max 49 cables I got literally just worked on the win XP machine dedicated for older radio programming.

Re: Bluemax 49 crap cable and mtr2000

Excuse me?? To talk to the MTR takes a RJ45 cable to DB9 adapter.. I wired one up myself in 5 minutes that works. I've never had a problem with Blue Max 49 as far as his cables are concerned.

The MTR 2000 RSS only talks to Com1 or COM 2... I use a USB to DB9 cable and make sure it's set for one of those ports..

Only three wires needed as the MTR is a RS232 port already but uses a RJ45 jack instead of a DB9 ..
TX data, RX data and Gnd.? 9600 baud with no hand shaking..

Re: Bluemax 49 crap cable and mtr2000

Part number of cable?? ? RS-232(DB-9 or DB-25 on PC?) to radio adapter (native RS-232 port on PC) or using a USB-to-radio adapter cable?

Another way of asking that - does the (un-named make/model) PC have a legit serial port or are you using a USB-serial cable?

If it's a legit PC RS-232 port to radio cable adapter, or otherwise, might or not be simply defective, or the OS does not recognize the PC's Serial port.??

What specific version of Windows ?? 3.1, XP, 7, 8, 10, 11?

What does Windows Device Manager indicate for I/O ports, if any?? ?Associated drivers - Intel, Broadcom, Prolific, or generic 8250/16550 serial I/O chip?

If you've got port conflicts or mis-assigned ports that the Moto software cannot use, there are means to change the COM port assigned in Windows.

If it's a USB-serial-port adapter - you'll need FTDI Windows drivers (specific to your OS) which almost never fail to install.??

Write ups about the 'Prolific' USB-serial deceptions and Windows I/O port issues, and details of Device Manager: ? ?

(I spent many years working with most/all genre of PCs, serial I/O programs, hardware diagnostic s/w for same, Windows and user support issues, wrote a book about PC I/O schemes.)

BlueMax does NOT use the problematic Prolific USB-to-RS232 chip and their non-driver crap.? However if you've had a Prolific device installed prior, it could leave you a mess in Windows to clean up.

The BlueMax owner is a local ham.? Reputable.? Has many various models of radios and software to develop and test with.? Call him.

Re: Bluemax 49 crap cable and mtr2000

I bought 2 for a HT1250 and a XTS3000. Both work great on Win 7 32 bit. Make sure you install the FTDI driver.

Re: Bluemax 49 crap cable and mtr2000

I bought one off ebay to program a Kenwood and it installed just on 2 different computers that has Win 10 on them.? No problem installing them and loading the program and programming the transceiver.

Re: Internet provision at a remote repeater site?

I likewise use AREDN for all my links between repeater sites. No monthly fees and the hardware can be quite inexpensive when purchased off Ebay.

I have encountered some of these older Windows RSS will only function properly on 32 bit iron (CPU), and not 32 bit Windows (or in a 32 bit VM) that is installed on 64 bit architecture.?

Re: another RSS question...

Your problem isn't the speed of your computer, not with MTR2000 RSS; the crucial thing is it has to be the 32 bit version of windows for the communications to talk to the radio. Same thing for MTS/MCS/Jedi and 1st gen Astro (been there, done that).

Vertex Alignment Cable T9101628 or equivalent

Am looking for the 25-pin DSUB alignment cable that goes with Vertex FIF-12 programmer and CT-49 alignment software. Have the FIF-12 interface and frequency programming interface, but not this cable. The part number above is a Motorola replacement part number, but not clear if the connector on this cable is small DIN-type or larger DIN-9 (older part number was AAF26X002). My FIF-12 uses smaller connector similar to later PC-keyboard so I'd need the smaller DIN connector cable for that one. I also have a FIF-8 programmer but no alignment cable for that one either (believe this is Vertex cable CT-88 and it uses the larger DIN-connector). Not sure if CT-49 software would work with this older interface even if I had the cable, but VX-5500 radios are sitting in the garage waiting after re-writing the code to get them down to ham frequencies, so any help to finish the job and get them tuned up would be appreciated!

TKR-850 E2 Error

I have a TKR-850-1 that was working fine but now powers up with an E2 error code channel data not written.
Can read radio and all data is read and good.
Tried rewriting data with negative results.
Would like to try reloading firmware
Does any one have a copy of the most updated firmware?
