Re: Grounding rods

You don't need to inspect "wire to rod." They are either welded or high compression crimped.

Concrete that yields to strikes has other issues. Consider that in nearly every case, a tower has a pin or other structural components that conduct embedded power.

How did you periodically inspect the wire to rod bond?
What was the distance between rods?
Did the ground wire to the dish go through plastic pipe or was in in contact with the concrete?

I have seen a foundation explode when the ground wire was in contact with the concrete.

Yeah, you're correct, the link will be on for two. Now, I just need to keep the three radios straight so I don't use the incorrect one that's not program lol. I'll UHF all the same model.

There is an alternative I've always used.

Try using a sampling slug for your Bird watt meter.

You can change the coupling by turning the slug.

No, didn't touch the board. We got it working tonight, we programmed the pins and found out that the Kenwood mobile radio does not have enough drive going into the controller so I had to disable the LED panel on the front of theArcom. Just turn off the switch.

Use a little baking soda and water. Make a paste. Use a toothbrush (maybe your wife's) and use that paste to clean the tarnish. It works well.

Iso-tees can be made easily.

QUALITY brand like amphenol or something purchased from Tessco. They are
also on ebay used. Look for ones that are cleaned, that'll save time
from
cleaning tarnished ones, unless you have a couple hours or an ultrasonic
cleaner.

I used a low speed dremel/rotary tool and ball end carving bit. The
key is
slow (5k RPM) and low pressure until enough has been milled away. A
dremel
drill press and mounted vise make the job a pleasure.
-> 2mm gap between the center pins is plenty.
-> DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR. Wash out with electronic parts cleaner.

Measure insertion loss with VNA or spectrum analyzer with tracking
generator for each band and document.

Tip - do not buy connectors or coax from TEMU, Amazon, alibaba,
whatever.
Too much counterfiet junk. Cheap connectors cost more than you know.
Just
do the job right the first time. It's less expensive that way.
