Rk is not UV resistant. It is designed for plenum (indoor) installations. The jacket will degrade rapidly when used outdoors. ? FSJ is indeed ¡°Superflex¡± and the jacket is UV resistant, though thinner than plain Heliax. ? Matt AL0R ?

That's the service manual addendum, and it does not have complete information about the radio (I already have a copy of it, and it seems to be focused on alignment rather than full details and troubleshooting).? I'm working on this radio for Phillip, and cannot find the information I need in the addendum.

I'm assuming there is a more complete service manual available, but so far have not been able to find a copy.

The problem is UV stability. I read in their documentation somewhere
that the outer jacket isn't really UV stable. So look back at it again
in 8-10 years.

Re: mobile antenna on the side windows???
Hello Gervais,
You have the right idea. I just connected my Bird and a radio. Moved the inside mount to see what would happen. Getting the inside mount just off center is where it liked it the best. It has worked very well there. Once I found the spot, I mounted it there.

Hello Gervais,
The Larsen kg-270 is a very good glass mount but they have gone completely crazy on the price.
When I was installing mine, I used some packing take to hold it in place and look at the SWR. If I had both squares lined up, the SWR was really bad. Moving the inside of the vehicle part to a quarter of an inch offset, the SWR was perfect. Has been working very well for a few years.

Re: mobile antenna on the side windows???
Hi Gervais,
I once had a van conversion that had a totally fiberglass roof.?? On that roof, I made an X with 2" wide copper tape.?? I then drilled my hole for the nmo mount, also soldered the mount to the copper.?? Now I had a ground plane.? Worked well.

Use caution with glass mounts.
Some vehicles have a high metal content in the window tint that seriously degrades performance.
