Not sure what you budget is, I think you said UHF, have you looked at Bridgecom website? They have new Henry Radio Manufacture Amps. I'll link the UHF for easy lookup.

??????????????? You guys convinced me to keep the TPL, so it is going to be put in service with the TK851.

Some things I have never tried before make me nervous to try, sounds like I have gotten good advice off this list.

Thanks all.

The PA6-1AE should be adjustable to and stable at 70w. I second that the TKR-851 will adequately provide a stable low drive output appropriate for your amplifier.

You have everything you need.

All Chad needs do is drop the TKR down to 1 watt and start there...

Re: UHF Repeater Input Frequency Issues

The only problem not terminating a divider is causing some amplitude ripple in the passband. It wont hurt the associated amplifier. If the preamp was working it could improve the system noise figure as its in front of any lossy components in the receiver, assuming its not getting blitzed due to no preselector.?

Just curious, why do you have an eight way splitter in line to the receiver. The preamp is there to offset the loss in the splitter. Try eliminating both, but not the preselector.

Can you please elaborate on preselector vs splitter?? I assume you're calling a splitter what I've been calling a preamp sure to the split output.? Is a preselector then a receive amp without the integrated split?

We've figured out that the desensing was caused by the duplexer being out of alignment.
?
This pictured preamp died in a storm last night causing further issues.? That being said, you're absolutely correct.? An 8 way split is 11dB of loss and that preamp is presumed to be 12dB gain.? I'm probably causing reflections back into the amp without termination of those ports, but the amp is likely doing little good anyway. If we grab another one in the future, it will be 1 port in, 1 port out.
?
Great observation, and something I should have caught.

Re: F/S TPL PA6-1AE UHF amp

That's only 1.55dB less than 100w, toss another isolator or filter in line with a lossy jumper and keep the amp.?

I am keeping second guessing myself on this. Not sure if I can run 100W for
my coordination so trying to get the amp down to at least 70W out.

Really a shame.

The TKR-851 will have ZERO issues running at 3 watts to drive that amp.
