Re: Serial port on Kenwood NXR-710 - Requires software?

NXR can do NXDN digital modulation.
If you mean the TKR-D810, it does DMR.
Why they didn't bring audio out the rear connector on the D810 is beyond me.
They would, because of TDMA, have to have added something to tell it which slot to use for back there. Seems like it wouldn't have been that hard, but who knows...

It only works with the KPG software or to upload new firmware using their Fpro software.
On a side note, you can use the DB25 on the back panel of the NXR for your serial connection when using the KPG software (but you must use the mic when using Fpro)

Re: Up for sale on Hamradioauctions.com

I find it very distasteful to pay tax on something I'm taking a loss on from its original purchase price plus the state is collecting sales tax via PayPal or other service.? Who keeps paperwork on something they bought 30 years ago other than a business?? Absolutely ridiculous in my book.? Anyone else here remember when the state of Ohio was at the Dayton hamvention trying to get tailgaters to charge sales tax?? Many people just packed up and left.??

Yep part of the 68,000 IRS agents they hired and millions of 9mm ammo they bought to go after ham operators, used car parts and grandma's crafts. But they are not going after people who make less than $400,000 a year... RIGHT???

So selling a 62 chevy you bought in 1975 for $1000 and put it in the barn under a tarp, if you? sell it today for $12,000...according to them, that is a net profit and taxable income of $11,000.... Almost doubles your social security years income.. Even though 1975 $1000 is about $25,000 today it seems.

Re: R1225 Ribbon Cable set

The GM300 head has two connectors, like the R1225 head.

Yes, the volume control and microphone jack of the GM300 head works on an R1225
(the speaker works as well as long as the 15-to-16 jumper on the R1225 accessory connector is there).

Don't waste your time with the display cable. It's a different pinout.
It would take rewiring the cable and a few etch cuts and jumpers on the GM300 display board to get everything working.

Rick:? I wasn't aware that you had R1225s anywhere?

Hey folks I have a db 4096 duplexer on a 927 repeater. Works fine. But I may need to take it to a "real" site. Something tells me these are notch only but cannot find anything on this model. Anybody have any thoughts on it? It is rackmount with holes in the front panel to do the tuning. And with no separate pass and notch tuning I'm pretty sure this is a notch only...or a pass only.?

Any thoughts?

Hello everyone,

Once a year I ask for financial support to help defray the costs associated with the upkeep and furtherance of free repeater related help sites.? Repeater Builder continues to grow as we add information over the course of time.? With your donation, we'll be able to maintain the site, keeping it free.? Whether it be manuals or quality conversion articles, all information is provided free of charge.? There are literally thousands of .? Several manufacturers of repeater related equipment have gone out of business, but you can count on RB to continue to provide owners manuals and other information pertaining to these companies into the future.? Because of its size - even this group (on groups.io) is not free.

If the Repeater Builder website or this group has helped you, would you please consider a small donation to help keep them going?? Donations via regular mail (address provided below) or PayPal are greatly appreciated!

An online donation can be made by going to the and clicking on the PayPal Donate button:

Or, by postal mail at:
Kevin Custer

I'd like to thank my webmasters Matt Wagner N1ZYY and Mike Morris WA6ILQ who have stepped up in the absence of Bob Meister WA1MIK who passed away unexpectedly.? It is an enormous task to keep the site up to date.? I'd also like to thank the numerous authors and contributors who keep the articles and content coming - and of course my Email Group Moderators for their continued support.

Repeater Builder? is a registered trademark in the United States of America, and is owned by me.
is a company owned by me, where I sell some small project kits and products for (mainly) hams.
is owned by Scott Zimmerman N3XCC and he is licensed for the use of the name in his business (since 2001).
All of this sometimes causes confusion which can be sorted out here:

Again - - Thank-You very much for your continued support!

Re: Up for sale on Hamradioauctions.com

The bigger problem with eBay (for me as a seller) is the new IRS reporting. If you sell a total of $600 or more for the calendar year, they send you (and the IRS) a 1099 whereby you have to claim all of it as income. So, unless you also have documentation for the cost of goods sold (when you bought it) so you can pay income tax on the difference, you're toast. Either that or you have to gross up your selling price on eBay by your marginal tax rate just to break even.
