Re: 4 element VHF dipole from Ukraine
There are no dual band folded dipoles! Best solution is to have one set of VHF and one set of UHF. This is what I did for one of my sites last year. Two bays for each UHF transmit and receive same for

Re: UPS
I too have been down this road with many different UPS systems. The real problem is that a UPS is a SINGLE POINT OF FAILURE in whatever system it is powering. A battery (must be a SLA or LI type!)

Re: Bird Wattmeter Element ID
I think it is a 100 Watt slug, but I cant figure the range. The markings below seem plausible. The one under the cover is strange. Bill Ripley Brame Technologies / Trident Infosol Office: (505)

Re: UPS
Go with the battery. Use one of the diode/resistor thingys for charging. Just retired from 45 years in the broadcasting radio engineering, and there are only two types of UPS's. 1. Those that have

Re: Bird Wattmeter Element ID
When you get it working, put the meter in series with a know good power meter (linear or log), make the conversion and that should tell you what the power rating is on the slug, is my suggestion. --

Re: Receive antenna
Will you be using a multi-coupler for several receivers or just one on both?? Other than that there may be on on Tessco's site, but you did not say if you need it in omni. -- Regards, Karl Shoemaker

Re: 4 element VHF dipole from Ukraine
I'm trying to figure out why hot-dipped galvanizing HW is a problem per a post, here.?? I'm also hoping to find a dual band version; 2 meters and 70-cm. And yes, you can achieve 9db gain if all the

Not the shipping company, but backup power at a remote site. Our local Club is thinking about a better way for backup for our packet stacks.? So, the duty cycle is lower than a conventional repeater

Re: 4 element VHF dipole from Ukraine
Up front, I have no experience with the Ukraine built antennas. That said, It's interesting claiming 9DBd for a 4 bay antenna, and saying "...*each antenna produced at personal desired customer

We have a Telewave 2 mtr dipole that has been on top of a hospital for over 10 years and only a mile from the Gulf of Mexico that still looks like it is brand new and the harness looks good too. Les

I have a Telwave 4 bay unit 220mhz up for nearly 10 years. It has been working better than I would have hoped. Whatever they are using...you want some. '73, Mike K4CVL

OK. I can tell you that one of the popular commercial antenna manufacturers, Telwave, does NOT use flooded or silver plated shielding on their folded dipole antennas - I asked and was told "no, it is

No, & I wish I did. In particular I'd like to know what Commscope is using now on the DB-408. Decibel made a nice antenna, with flooded braided cable. I have one at a site that was left lying in the

The harness was sealed with what looked like heavy duty hot molded encapsulation, much studier than shrink tube. There is also a 1/4 wave section made up of 2 paralleled cables totally encapsulated.
