Re: Flatpack with horrible insertion loss

So I double checked, and I should have thought about this before, but the frequency response looks ok for which side is high and which side is low given the roll off of the 'pass' frequency. So the label with the frequencies was indeed incorrect, but the 'low' / 'high' label was ok, which is what I was using for the 'pass' reference.

Note the attachment of the 'low' side. Notice how much the notch is encroaching on my pass frequency.

If I go to 7Mhz split, then its not as bad. Its like this notch filter was not designed for this kind of split... yet it was sold for 5Mhz split.

Re: Flatpack with horrible insertion loss

The LOW side would be tuned to reject the higher frequency and corresponds to the label IF the notch was tuned to the 467 frequency. The HIGH side would reject the 462 frequency.

Re: Flatpack with horrible insertion loss [1 Attachment]

The split is the same as factory...just a few Khz down.
You sure the high and low sides didn't get swapped? The labels and the
frequencies don't match - high is low, and low is high, in the pic you
posted.

Re: Flatpack with horrible insertion loss

Looking at the photo, I think the sides are reversed. Compare the frequencies to the "High" and "Low" labels.

I'm getting around 5dB of loss. I thought something was wrong with the SA/Tracking Generator and plugged it in to the service monitor to test before/after power output and sure enough, 5.4dB insertion loss. SWR is horrible for the actual pass frequency.

I don't think this got dropped (at least not that I know of). I hate to bash a cheap mobile duplexer from China, but I wondering if this has been other's experience of these knock off brand mobile duplexers?

The split is the same as factory...just a few Khz down.

Both sides are within a dB of each other.

Re: Flatpack with horrible insertion loss

Could the high side and low side be reversed? Maybe it came wrong from China.

Re: Flatpack with horrible insertion loss

I should add that if I increase the split, then things look better (although not great). If I go with a 7Mhz split, I can get the insertion loss down to about 2dB and the VSWR looks good.

The only other thing I haven't tried yet, is to change the High and low side. Maybe they miss labeled at factory? I don't see how that will make a different since these cans should be symmetrical.

Long time on mine as well, but I think it is in the menu for PL or DPL selection in the Frequency/channel area. Just turn off both PL and DPL in the selection line...I think..

Hi James,

?

We have use a Mirage 100W base station amplifier tune down to 60W with fan on the heat sink to keep cool.

We had problem at first we the logic part of the Amp when we first bought it used, but never after the fix.

Best of luck with you search.

Good morning,

This question is for all the 220 MHz repeater owners on the list.

We have a 25W repeater and would like to add an amplifier as it hears much better than its transmit coverage. Our exciter output is variable from 1 to 25 Watts. Our antenna is a DB224-JJ.

What type of amplifier are you using? I¡¯m really looking for options other than Henry and TE Systems but not seeing very many.

Does anyone know where I can get a new phasing harness for my commscope db-224e antenna?? I realize the company has no replacement parts for it.? Thought someone might have one kicking around or know some other outlet where it might be available. ..tnx

Re: MSF 5000 programming question

Yes, I believe there is.? I think you can select "CSQ", or something similar... but it's been so long since I programmed mine, I seriously can't remember where the selection is.

I use TE systems, as Henry has failed me before. Henry also takes some time
to actually get them, and power falls off as they warm up.

The TE systems desktop amp with a good fan has worked well for us, but they do
offer the continuous duty option too. TE can operate in a linear mode too.

One of the things I didn't care for with TE systems was they jacked the price
up when I went to order. We'd got the approval of our board for what was
listed on their website plus shipping. When I ordered I was told it would be
about 75 dollars more as "we've not touched the website in 10 years, and
prices have gone up". I'm sure I could have made a thing about it, but it's
just typical old ham mentality.

BTW if you need a circulator or BPF for 220, hit me up.

You can set both RX and TX to be CSQ, according to both - the help
files - and the test I just did in the program, with an archived codeplug.
